Wow, thanks! Interesting reading. And yes, you right:

Hand Controllers (F/A-18D night attack configured AIRCRAFT 163986 AND UP). The right and left hand controllers (figure 2-61) located on the forward inboard section of the right and left rear cockpit consoles, are used to provide sensor/display control.

As the Swiss Air Force is not allowed to fly at night (to noisy...) and the use of they're five F-18D as training aircraft I think it's save to assume that they are not fitted with the night attack configuration ;-)

Little update: assembled the nose landing gear. Kit comes with a metal strut to take the weight and styrene parts around it. Lot of cleaning up seamlines but the parts coming together nicely.

Time for some primer...

Thank you guys. I'm enjoying this build so far but sadly work doesn't allow me spending much time at the bench currently. I small sessions i painted up the cockpit tube and the two instrument panels. The screen decals are part of the kit, pretty nice.

Have to make a decision on the cockpit: pilots or not? Open canopy or closed? What a hard hobby ;-)

I understand your problem, not getting much bench time myself, but its looks nice so far, i expect nothing less from you though.

If it was my choice open no pilots i want to see in there

Haha, I'm tending towards pilots and closed canopy :-). Really like the shape of the Hornet so probably close up everything. But not sure yet.

Looking great buddy. Jealous I'm not getting any bench time at all, I might just have to stay up once the Mrs has gone to bed and take over the living room coffe table.

Sounds like a good idea. As long as you not take your model into bed... ;-)
