Very nice work on the cockpit. Looks like you're enjoying your coffee table time :-). And the seatbelts came out great.

Meh! Lol it went ok tbh but took a lot of squeezing, holding and glueing in stages. There may still be a little gap to sort of the fuselage forward of the cockpit but will see how it looks when primer goes down.

I'm still really enjoying it though.

I popped up the road to shuttleworth museum for the model exhibition today andcit got me thinking about painting the markings on.

You are doing some cracking work on this on buddy ! Love the IP, looks much sharper than the Eduard coloured etch as it doesn't have that kind of "pixelated" finish that Eduard seem to have.

As you say this is a great kit for the money, I built one a while ago and it goes together pretty well. I don't remember having any major fit issues but I do recall having to use a bit of filler in The fuselage seam just forward of the screen as you have mentioned

Cheers Pete. I must admit I did have a look over yours and if mine is anywhere close I will be a very happy model maker!

After being down at the show today I was feeling inspired, I got chatting to an ex service man who, as it turns out, used to work with a lot of my ex colleagues and we got to chatting about this kit. He convinced me that I would hate to look at the kit knowing the ailerons were wrong so I decided to do something about it and try and scratch them myself (if I messed up I could always buy replacements. I cut some plasticard to very thin strips and covered the rivets then sanded them down to a more realistic size, they still look a little heavy at the moment but I'm hoping that will soften when I get them in primer.

I got a load of bits bolted onto the kit and she's starting to look like a spitfire now. Decided to add some interest by having the horizontal elevators dropped and rudder turned slightly (rear wheel will match). I think I am going to do the flaps dropped (knowing that the doors on top of the wing won't be open) and have one aileron up and one down as it would sit naturally with the controls sat off centre.

Hopefully it's looking right.
