Finally got a bit of build time in whilst watching the walking dead tonight.

Got the preshading done on the bottom and had enough paint to do the top (even though it won't show through the camo too well) then I got a coat of xf-21 sky on the bottom and I'm really happy with how it's looking so far.

Also managed to get some alclad polished Alu down on the wing root, wheel hubs and props ready for chipping etc.

Cheers guys.

I have the airfix 1/48 pr.9 I just need to get a cockpit set because the kit one is waaaaay out. Just not sure to go Eduard etch or resin, the resin is £35 which is a stretch so I'm leaning towards the etch

Or thinking about it I could always build it OOB and close up the canopy. Which would still look good

TBH I'm really impressed with the sprites, the fuselage halfs are really thick heavy bits of plastic. There are (like most) a few inaccuracies the cockpit being the main issue but aside from that it's pretty minor stuff. Oh and it's bloody huge I think around 40cm wide and the same in length and is going to need about 3 tons of nose weight (another reason to keep the nav pit closed up!

That's awesome. Funnily enough that's the cockpit that comes with the kit but it's wrong for the pr.9 annoyingly airfix were really lazy in this area. Appreciate the link though, definitely be able to use that info

Really happy to get some bench time and get some paint down.

I started with some mig ammo scratches effect over alclad Alu on the wing root then put down some Tamiya xf-52 flat earth then xf-82 raf dark green 2. I masked using white tack and Tamiya masking tape (a whole lot of masking tape)

I also got the props and spinner done using the same technique with xf-69 NATO black and xf-23 light blue.

Next up will be some light fading using the OG colours with a touch of xf-2 white, then a gloss to seal the deal.

Shouldn't take much longer to finish. Still tempted to make up some masks for the Roundalls or just use the decals which are stunning mmmmm

And this is it for tonight.

Got all the undercarriage done and sealed, got the props finished, I may need to do some sanding work on the spinner though not overly happy with the fit. I also got some shadows and highlights on the main aircraft and gave it a good ol gloss ready for decals.

Happy so far. A little concerned about the canopy because the masks haven't adheared the best but time will tell.

Small update, I managed to get the walkway decals down with a little swearing, also I bastardised the revell decals for the P7666 annoyingly this is where I realised I masked the fuselage band wrong and it's not straight and a little too wide but there isn't much I can do about that now so never mind.

Hopefully these pics should show off the fading better, hopefully a flat coat won't dull it all down too much.

Also I'm quite impressed with how the ailerons look, probably a little heavy still but better than totally wrong I guess.
