I am looking forward to your reveal, that will definitely keep me kicking along. After researching this kit the last few days one thing is sure. It's a fine looking beast all finished up.
Btw, it will look mega-spectacular on that nice Carrier deck you have.
Lol, I will crack on down there on Saturday, I was really hoping to have it done this week, but the weather put paid to that. I think it will still take me a while to get this done, the weapons look like a fair bit of work, I'm not sure what load out to put on it, I will have a look tomorrow. Yeah it's a good looking model when it's built up, massive too, this is longer than the f-15 I built a while ago The deck will be a good way to take pics of Naval aircraft models, trouble is ive only got one more carrier plane in the stash after this one, I might have to try and get the intruder this year, I am going to sell all of my nitro rc trucks and gear, so with a bit of luck it all sells and I can have a bonkers spend up at Telford in November Pete
Nice one, yeah I've had a good look at that Intruder too, what an awesome bit of kit. I think I'll sit on what I have for a while, it'll keep me busy for now. As for a nice 1:32 carrier deck? Hmmm.
It's scary how quickly the stash grows lol ! I've really slowed down on the buying this past few years, but I still can't resist grabbing the odd bargain, I will need to live to 150 to see them all get finished lol !

As I say to my missus (as I look at her ever growing shoe rack!), we are not only builders, but collectors. lol

I think it stars as collecting but then very quickly becomes hoarding lol ! I've got 100s of model magazines stacked under my desk, I haven't read one in years (thanks to the Internet) but I can't bring myself to throw them in the recycling, I don't buy the mags ver often anymore, if I did I would be one of those people you see on TV shows, that have "tunnels" in their houses

Yeah we get that British hoarding show on TV here, you guys are pigs! Haha! Jokes aside a guy (and his family) moved out of the house across the road from me the other day and left most of their "hoard" for others to clean up, out and out pigs. Nothing worth keeping btw. I already looked. lol

I think hoarding is a truly multicultural phenomenon, it must be in human DNA from prehistoric times, I'm sure I still have a petrified Mammoth turd that's been handed down through the generations, it's just I can't find it amongst all the empty cans and KFC cartons lol !

It's pretty scary when I look at it in the pictures, but it will all squirrel away in the Petecave Mk II

Lol dude! You do need that cave ASAP hey? That's a difficult "workspace". You even have to share shelf space, this just won't do. lol You do have a nice stash though, lots of big flying things there. What's that Revel Eurofighter kit like? And the Heinkel? I bet that's a big bugger built up!! lol

Lol ! It's a bit cramped, the shelf space is pretty much all my stuff though, even the Harry Potter books lol.
Yeah the planes are all 1/32, apart from a 1/48 Dakota and a 1/24 P-51, the Revell Eurofighter looks ok, it's a little basic in places, but I have got an Aires resin pit for it, so it should make it look a bit better
The Heinkel is quite nice, it is pretty big, I haven't looked if it's bigger than the Mitchell or not, the detail out of the box looks pretty decent too, if a little simplified in places, I've got quite a few 1/32 Revell kits as I managed to pick them up at really cheap prices, I've got 2 Tornado's 2 BAE Hawks a Mig 29, sea venom, Arado 196, piper Cub a Sea Lynx and a couple of gliders off the top of my head, I really must make a big effort this year to clear a few from the stash, a few out of the box builds would help, shift some

That will be awesome. Landing gear looks great Pete, it paves the way for a well-weathered snotty F-14 ahead. Ready for the boneyard hey? I've been thinking about mine, and looking at other builds, I might leave the PE off until last, paint that separately black or aluminium or something, so there's some contrast going on. But looking at yours, it looks pretty awesome all done white too.

Cheers Simon, they are way dirtier than I had planned, but I'm going for a really weathered look to the whole thing, based on a couple of pics I have of an in service bird, so it should look ok in context
I do want to pick out a couple of the photo etch pipes with a bit of paint, but they are just so tiny I'm not sure I can do it without getting paint everywhere lol , I will be able to get some paint on the wires I added to the nose gear though, it's a bit thicker and not so close to the strut
I put the etch on mine before painting purely to try and get a half decent bond, the etch is so thin it's half the thickness of my thinnest lead wire (0.2mm) so there isn't an awful lot of gluing surface, I had to use tweezers to get them on the struts, so if you do paint yours before fiiting them be careful not to scratch the paint off
It's not a job to be done after a cup of coffee lol !
