Interesting, I have the Tamiya Bradley M2 IFV with interior, I wonder how the two kits compare ?

Good luck with the build [smile]

well guys, so far I'm loving this kit [biggrin]

time to bring you all up to date.

first the obligatory box and sprue shots:

DSC_0001.jpg

DSC_0002.jpg

all the buff coloured plastic is from the main kit.  the grey and green sprues are out of the interior set (there is a version of the kit that combines these two boxes in one)

also included in both boxes was some photo etch including a wheel and track mask, and vinyl parts.

the track is a snap together type (photos in the next update).

DSC_0003.jpg

to start with I got to work on the clever torsion bar suspension system common to meng kits.

DSC_0005.jpg

DSC_0008.jpg

the torsion bars are glued in the centre of the hull section leaving the trailing arms free to move

DSC_0006.jpg

DSC_0007.jpg

the first three suspension arms and the rear ones also have damper units that you make from lengths of metal tube (included in the kit) that you super glue to the pivot part that clips to the hull.
the effect is a very realistic looking working suspension system.

DSC_0012.jpg

the detail on the multi part construction wheels and drive sprocket is incredibly sharp and looks great.

DSC_0009.jpg

the floor part that comes with the interior set is nicely textured and covers the torsion bars up nicely.
the small piece you see sticking out the back is loose suggesting that the doors will be positionable once the model is complete.

DSC_0015.jpg

the engine detail in the interior set looks very nice but unfortunately won't be seen by the end

DSC_0013.jpg

the gearbox assembly on the other hand will be visible under the front hatch and is very nicely detailed out of the box.

DSC_0016.jpg

a few wires and pipes added using solder wires in a couple of thicknesses.  I don't know if the routing is accurate I just put it where I thought made sense.

DSC_0017.jpg

as you can see this is the view you'll get (or rather won't get) of the engine

DSC_0018.jpg

the top of the intake filter box covers up the view from the side

DSC_0021.jpg

this is the engine in situ without the gear box in place

DSC_0022.jpg

and this is what you see of it by the end.  bit of a shame not to see it but it's still fun to put it together and i'll make sure to photograph the whole interior before it all gets closed up.

DSC_0023.jpg

gear box should look good though [smile]

DSC_0024.jpg

the driver sits right next to where the engine is.  must get a bit toasty in there.

DSC_0025.jpg

well, that's about where i'm up to as I said i'm really enjoying this build (my first armour build too [smile] )

going to start painting up the engine parts in the next update and i'll show you how i'm getting on with the track.

getting on really nicely with this kit.

I forgot to get a snap of the track links before removing them from the sprues but essentially this is how they come:

DSC_0029.jpg

the only real problem is clearing out the sprue gate between the two links.
it would have been much easier if they attached them where you could get a sander in.

DSC_0031.jpg

DSC_0033.jpg

once these two patches are cleaned up the track links simply click together

DSC_0034.jpg

after a couple of sessions in front of the TV, the tracks are complete ready for weathering.

DSC_0030.jpg

I got the engine painted and gave it some subtle weathering, not that you'll see it but it was a bit of fun anyway.

DSC_0027.jpg

DSC_0039.jpg

the gearbox housing assembly needs toning down a little bit.  the oil wash I put on is a bit heavy but will be easy enough to correct.

DSC_0038.jpg

the parts below will be painted as seperates:

DSC_0036.jpg

the interior set looks great out of the box.  I just added a little bit of wiring

DSC_0040.jpg

DSC_0041.jpg

DSC_0042.jpg

the jerry cans are removeable and will be painted separately.

DSC_0043.jpg

DSC_0044.jpg

DSC_0045.jpg

DSC_0046.jpg

I didn't glue all the pieces yet so I could more easily get in to paint and weather.
the next step is the turret assembly and that will complete all of the internal detail.

well, this build is going so well I'm struggling to keep up with the updates.

first off I've toned down the weathering on the transmission case and I think it looks much better now

DSC_0018.jpg

next the fan unit on the side of the air filter box got a coat of mr metal dark iron.  I then brushed it up to highlight the blades.
there's some photo etch to go over the top of this so I'm not sure how well this'll be seen but hey-ho.

DSC_0023.jpg

rear lights and stowage boxes added:

DSC_0048.jpg

hull outer all put together, though I've left off the spare track and tools that I will paint separately.

DSC_0049.jpg

small EPM to fill on the inside of the driver's hatch.

DSC_0050.jpg

periscope glass will go in after painting.

DSC_0051.jpg

the exhaust pipe is loose for now.  I'm going to spray it with some metaliser and fit it after everything's painted.

DSC_0052.jpg

nice details on the rear door

DSC_0053.jpg

the smaller door can be positioned open as well but as the tailgate will be openable I glued it shut.

DSC_0054.jpg

lots of little handles down the side needed careful clean up of the mould joint line.

DSC_0060.jpg

some nice photo-etch brackets for the BUSK armour.

DSC_0064.jpg

unfortunately mostly covered up

DSC_0065.jpg

then I found a massive mis-mould on the turret top section,

the bit you can see over hanging just above the hole on the left hand side of this panel is not supposed to be there.
the face of the panel should also be flat but it has a large step in it.

DSC_0066.jpg

luckily it just needs trimming off as there is a detail panel that covers over the error.  the gaps in the panels are ok as the armour plate is all separate panels bolted on so there will be gaps in real life too.

DSC_0069.jpg

a couple of shots to show the hatches that are openable

DSC_0071.jpg

DSC_0072.jpg

all ready for primer and paint now with all the sub assemblies complete.

here's a bunch of pics to show all the parts:
