just a couple of shots showing what I've been up to.

after priming with stynylrez I gave the interior a coat of AK extreme metal aluminium.

This forms the base for the hairspray chipping technique I thought I'd try having not had great success with the salt water technique on my recent Y-Wing build.

on the whole I like this technique a lot and I think I'll be using it again.  The only thing is using Gunze paint means it takes a good scrubbing before the chipping starts to show.  that stuff really is tough paint!!  great finish though using their self levelling thinners.

I'll weather in the decals with my final layers of weathering.  I'll probably go in with a little oil wash and some dusty effects using soft pastels.

all coming together nicely now.

the oil wash needs a little tidying up in places.  on the of the great benefits to taking these pics is you often see things you don't see when you're working on the model.

DSC_0033.jpg

the engine fit gave me some trouble so I ended up cutting away the location on the base and moving it back a little.

for the seat cushions I gave them an undercoat of XF-55 before the final olive green colour.
then I lightly sanded the olive green to leave the lighter colour on the raised areas.

just needs a coat of satin to knock back the Klear coat I've put on for now.

Started painting with a base coat of dark aluminium AK extreme metal and then some hair spray.
over coated with Vallejo sand yellow and picked out a few panels in light brown

I'm getting on quite well using the hairspray technique for chipping and will probably use it on future builds I do.

^^^ looks like someone should have seen that rock [wink]

DSC_0073.jpg

DSC_0076.jpg

with the decals on and the gun turret mounted its really looking the part.

the top of the hull Is still loose and there's a bit of a gap along the front edge and a bit along the top of the rear door frame but unless you're looking for it you'll probably not notice so I think I'll keep it this way

DSC_0078.jpg

DSC_0079.jpg

bonnet (hood) and boot (trunk) lids [wink]

DSC_0080.jpg

for the anti glare coating on the glass I experimented with some clear colours and I think a coat of Tamiya clear yellow followed by clear red gives quite a realistic effect.

I love how these tracks look.  started with Mr Metal colour dark iron (buffable) and rubbed over the edges and along the areas where the road wheels run with a cotton bud (cue tip).

with the photoetch masks included in the kit painting the rubber pads and the road wheels is so easy [biggrin]

DSC_0081.jpg

and the end result is great.  (Tamiya rubber black)

DSC_0092.jpg

need to over coat the front mud flaps and add some chipping then its just the weathering with oils and soft pastels.

more soon [wave]

thanks Ted,

having joined the SIG a little later than the others I was a bit worried about finishing on time, but it's all going really well so far [biggrin]
