So. after putting aside the chassis I moved over to the cab. Sorry, but I forgot to make any in progress build pictures... But it wasn't all that exciting anyway 😉
And of course its all in subassemblies. I just gave the pieces a base coat and highlighted it to give some tonal variation. Next is painting the details inside.
I think I will leave the doors closed however. Not that big of a fan of scratch building a new interior...

Very nice work.  Though been modelling for a good number of years I'm a very recent convert to an airbrush (two years) and have got a lot to learn. 99% of my painting was done with a hairy stick, slapped on straight from the tin.

Hi guys, thanx for your kind words!!

I thought the doors missed something and online I saw some photos of the doorhandles on the interior. They are actually accessible from outside 😉 I don't think they care much about carjacking in those days...

So, with some thin foil I made some doorhandles. Hope they survive the paint and weathering phases.

And since the interior received its clear coat and has to dry for a few days I started doing one of the most tedious jobs in modeling: chipping! And of course first light chipping followed by some darker chips inside the light chips... All this work and its probably getting covered up by dust!

Hope the pictures give you an idea of the chipping stage:

I love Martins video’s! They are great and he inspired me to try painting chips with brush again. No chipping fluid! One of the main problems with chipping with brush is the paint drying on the tip. But with his advice using paint retarder and thinner it now works great.

Hi guys!

So, I started assembling the chassis. Always nice to see it come together. After assembling the different parts a few tiny bits had to be added. These are painted while attached to the chassis. I think I have to do some touch ups. But I think its starting to look quit good, if I may say so 😉

I also did some work on the interior of the cabin. Didn't make to many in progress pictures but will post some soon.

Thanx, guys! Really having fun building this one! Its challenging and time consuming but worth all the effort so far.

That brings us to the next steps on the interior of the cabin. I finished some light chipping inside and tried to weather the seats. Always difficult doing leather... Will do some touch ups after everything has dried and then seal it all with a flat coat. Then some dusting and going to find some small accessories like a paper and tea mug 😉!
