Lovely work Dave. When they (the TNI-AU) moved these from Makassar to Batam and started intercepting US aircraft we were a bit surprised. Always good for the domestic audience though. Will be following your build. Although I have one of these can't say I'll be doing an Indon jet.

Cheers!

Thanks Sean!

Yea I know what ya mean about the Local Audience....

Funny thing is.... I was looking at one of the online Indo News outlets and they had a pretty big article on our incident. Clearly listing our type aircraft (C-12 KingAir) and Call sign... But they got the pic all wrong... Must have been a stock photo from a prior incident.... Showed them intercepting a Dornier! LOL Gotta love it!

Hey All... Small update.......

Was test fitting the Wolfpack Resin tails and they are gonna be a handful. So I decided to do the metal work on the rear end 1st. Wanna keep the handling of the tail to a minimum after the tails are on..... They will definitely need to be attached before primary paint.....

Painted the area with Gloss black then used Vallejo Metal Colors.

I'll leave it like this for now... Probably touch it up later in the weathering stage......

Thanks for looking

Dave

Nothing to touch up, looking very good from here. Are you going to mask right over the metal paint?
I sprayed a layer of the Vallejo clear for metallic over the exhaust of my egg flankers before masking. Left some miner marks when I unmasked them. Looks like the clear coat came of in some parts, but not sure.

Thanks Joe and Fabian....

As far as masking... Yup Will mask over it..... I usually use a Lacquer Based clear over the metal work and have had real good luck with it... But in my attempt to ween myself from lacquer based paints, I wanna try using Alclad Aqua Gloss.... Been using it for decal base and it is really nice! And seems tough so we'll see...

I have used the Vallejo Metal Clear coat and I'm not real impressed with its performance just in normal use so I don't doubt that you had issues..... I would save it for a final clear coat or situation where you can leave it alone for several days.... Thinking it is similar to their Polyurethane Primers.... They ley down nice and smooth, but take forever to fully cure..... Just my 2 cents worth LOL

So Fabian? Are you in my Time Zone yet??

Thanks again

Dave

Hi All!

Small update

Started working some of the PE for the canopy sills. After a little research.... I noticed that the aft Deck area for the canopy was all wrong. Maybe thats why there is no previsions in the kit to have an open canopy....

So I broke out the razor saw and did some cutting and bending of the rear deck.... Here it is after the PE Decking was installed..... A bit crude, But should look ok after all is together...

And made a simple actuator out of some Aluminum and Stainless tubing..... Probably not at the correct angle but should work out OK...

Thanks for looking

Dave

Hi All.... Not a whole lot of progress done this last week....

Received these new wheels from Armory In Russia (I think).... It was pointed out to me that Brassin set was incorrect for the SU-30..... Had old style main wheel hubs and only a single nose wheel assy....

These new wheels are pretty sweet!

Primed with Stynalrez Black

Painted the Hubs Akan Wheel Green

Tires were painted Gunze Acrylic Tire Black

Moved on to the Canopy.... Masked the exterior

Then the interior so I could paint the inside after install of some of the PE. Also to protect the canopy from the PE install process...

PE Applied

Then Painted interior and exterior

Then removed the interior masks

Well that's it for now.... Hope to get a big push over the weekend!

Thanks for looking!

Dave
