Really good progress, looking nice and tidy.

I always struggle with PE on the canopy with CA getting under masks or PVA that not keeps the parts in place. Do you have any tips? What kind of glue are you using?

Thanks Daniel!

Well.... I'm using super thin CA glue for the bulk of the PE. It was used on all the rear pieces..... Just formed and pressed in place and applied CA to the aft edges and let Capillary attraction do the rest.  And the middle strap, I was to scared to try CA so I just used Future/Kleer. Just pressed the piece in place and using a fine brush the future was applied rather generously so capillary attraction would get under it. It seemed to work fine.

Now I may be wrong... But it also seemed to me the tape I used to frame in the glass may have helped as well.... It is White Board Striping tape. Super flexible. Great adhesion and kinda porous. It may have wicked up some of the CA/Kleer into the tape and the adhesive of the tape acted as a protective barrier..... The reason I say this is when I removed the tape after all had dried.... Some pieces of the tape used in areas at the rear where I used CA we very stiff. Seemed to me as some CA got to it... But as far as I can tell..... It didn't reach the glass that the tape was protecting.... So Food for thought.

Here is the CA and Tape I used
Just bought the thinnest CA I could find at the hardware store.. I'm sure each country has their brand...

This is the tape... I believe It's 2mm and I bought it at the 100 Yen store (Dollar/Euro Etc)

Hope this helps!

Dave

Thank you Dave!

Will try to get my hands on some of that tape and see if it works for me. Never tried future either so will give that a go next time. Great tips!

Hi Folks...

Weekend Update!

Didn't get as much done as I would have liked.....

The WPD Vertical Stabs ar a real Buzz Kill..... The don't fit worth a ...... Well you know....

There are HUGE gaps on the front 3rd or so of the join to the fuselage... So Trying Milliput to sort..... Just nudged it in the gap and smoothed out with water soaked cotton buds..... We'll see..... Kinda wish I would have just used the kit stabs... Not really too concerned about how far the rudder comes down...... May go that route if I can't get the resin ones fared in......

After mounting the stabs and sorting out the gap which needs overnight to cure.....

Decided to work the Resin Nozzles.....

Ready for Primer

Stynalrez'ed

Painted the burner interior Model Air White Grey

Painted the Metal Areas GIA Ex Black

The T Wheel and Flame holder were painted Vallejo Metal Color Jet Exhaust

Glued the Inner Nozzle to the AB

Painted the outer Nozzle Mr Metal Color Dark Iron... Still my favorite for Nozzles.....

Just a great color!

Now painted the external of the Internal nozzle Vallejo Metal color Gunmetal Grey... But wasn't too keen on it... So painted the other with Alclad Gunmetal whick is more black and blue....

Here they are mounted in the outer Nozzles for comparison..... Lemme know what y'all think?

W/ The Alclad

W/ The Vallejo

Used Tamiya Weathering Set Soot and streaked the Interior then attached the T Wheel/Flame holder...

May not be accurate, But Kinda happy how it turned out in any case....

Well that's it for now.

Thanks for looking!

Dave

Nice progress, joining resin and styrene can be a real pain....struggled a fair bit with the canards on the viggen build, milliput became the solution for me, but I recognise the "oh why didn't I stick to the kit part" feeling. I'm sure you will sort it out!

Regarding the nozzles I would go for the alclad, think it looks more like the references I have seen + it seems like you get a more interesting contrast between the parts.

Thanks heaps Daniel!

Yea I'm kinda partial to the Alclad tipped inner nozzle as well for the same reasons.

Hi All! Small Update..

Sorted out the tails as best I could without trashing too much detail and Worked on Primary painting

Fully primed with Stynalrez and preshaded with GIA Black surfacer..... Sorry no picks of that part.....

For the primary colors, I wanted to try the Ammo Acrylics in an attempted to ween myself from the Mr Color Lacquers..... My 1st impression was pretty nice. As long as you build up the coats..... and use neat......

But when it came to thinning for a free hand camo.... They didn't work so great.... To get a thin mixture that would produce a tight line... Well it just wasn't doable for me... May need to play with them more... But Not now.... So I switched back to ol reliable Mr. Color...... And they worked just fine....

The bottom is still Ammo FS36375, But the top is Mr Color FS 36375 (C308) and Mr Color FS 36173 (C335 Medium Sea Grey)

Gonna let it set over night and then mask and paint the Gunship Grey sections and the gun plate metalwork....

Thanks for looking

Dave

Looks like you got the stabs sorted, looks great. Got me a bit worried for a moment when you talked about dumping the hole project [smile].

It is indeed a beautiful aircraft!
