Had this on my bucket list for a while, so this is a good excuse to build and finish one.

Have not decided exactly what I'm going to do with it yet. Leaning toward an F2A.

Not 100% on the paint either, would like to try an all metal finish but the body has to be perfect to carry it off.

More after market parts will appear in the coming weeks.

Small update.

Not much decal choice out there I feel especially the F.2A. Had the Xtradecals for the lightning for some time now so going to use them.

Looks like it's going to be an F6, XR753 metal finish with the white spine. Ordered a quickboost seat and Aires exhausts. Undecided about cockpit, after the Mk24 spit I want to avoid all that chopping and sanding if at all possible.

Crappy weather so doing some research. Found this link for a dry brushing metalizer finish technique that looks really interesting. http://www.essmc.org.au/Natural_Metal_Finish.html

Very unchuffed! Just prepared the resin exhausts and suddenly realised that instead of two star shaped out pipe deelies, I have one and an intake fan [mad]

Now I have to faff about chopping the kit part up.

Okay, you are going to have to look down there with a torch to see but I'll know!

[DSC_0086_zpsf4d56ba4]

Change of plan. Ordered a Resin starter kit from MDC. [wink]

Know what you mean when you say you "will know" about difficult/hidden areas of a build but you still want them to be "right"..you know that some model judges and visitors at shows use small lights to look in certain areas of models. You'd hate for someone to look in and then shake their head!! I am considering robbing my duplicate MiG kit becasue I am getting unhappy with how part of my landing gear looks--or maybe I will strip everything off the ones I've done?? When you spend time and $$$ with a kit seems to come alive and demand you best effort!  LET us see that resin kit in action if you can? best wishes!!

Hello nice thread,i like the photos and your plans for you build, except the thinking of use that painting technique. You should go with Alclads for a more durable finish. If you go with the metalizers you will need extra layers of varnish for securing you metal finish. Metalizers are very sensitive.

Good luck.
