Thanks Fabian.

I find it strange to have to scratch all the cockpit detail away to use PE...it seems unnatural.

The PE belts are rubbish, so I might go down the fabric belt route.

Doing some research I have found out that the kit seats are too wide, they are quite a tight fit, so I've decided to get some K36 resin seats from NeOmega which have good detailed belts already molded in.

When I receive them I will show a side by side comparison.
Price.....they are currently on sale for £4 each. Not bad considering one belt set from Eduard costs £8 approx (and I require 2).

Don't worry my friend, they will be the last thing to go in the cockpit.

Just had a good read through to catch up and wow what a kit this is !

Amazing detail and beautifully molded. Cockpit is looking yabba dabba doo and I'm pleased to see that your paints turned up Nigel.

And those reference pics show what an absolute monster of a plane this is, the engines are humungous

Thanks lads.

I've made a start on the cockpit. It just seems unnatural to remove all the detail.
This kit does have a few niggling faults, and pin marks don't help on the side panels and do show up if not removed as the double predrilled holes are for the hydrolic canopy, and I intend for these to be in the raised position.

The detail will come from this Eduard set...

...but I have a big problem...Ammo's Russian Modern Cockpit is not the right colour as the PE.

It's a 50/50 mix of Gunze Sangyo H25 Sky Blue and H46 Emerald Green.
