Hi guys.

This build signifies a whole host of firsts for me....

First 1/48 build
First time using airbrush
First time using resin

Most importantly my first post on the forum ( please be nice)

Brief of background on me, RAF Photographer for 14 years, back into modelling since July this year (brush painting ww2 aircraft)

So here goes...

I forgot to get box pics etc before I started as I was too excited to get on with the build as I have such a passion for Russian jets.
I decided to go with the Soviet Union colourway as the camo colours looked so good together.

Aftermarket parts concisted of brassin wheels, quickboost seat and master pitot.

Also decided to go with a ladder set by aero line.

As usual I started on the cockpit, employing the kit supplied etch throughout and going over the top on weathering so it still looked weathered after the seat is dropped in. Resin seat is a bit smaller than the kit part so may need to make a riser to get it sitting right.

Next came the wheel wells and closing up the fuselage...

After that came priming and my fist attempt at pre-shading.

I then went ahead and applied the base coat using mr hobby colours for the camo and exracrylic for the azure blue underside.

So that's it for now.

Few hiccups at the beginning (caused by me TBH) with nose weight making the bottom halfs a bit gappy after cementing the top half of the fuselage (will have to deal with it for now)

Was over the moon at the minimal amount of filing and sanding that was needed.

Especially love how the colours came out, proper airbrush convert here!

So next will be decals, landing gear, stores and canopy!

Thanks guys [smile]

Haha, there is no such thing as to many mig-21s ;-)
Checked the pictures and it looks like your almost done, very nice progres! The camo is looking great and really fits the mig.
I also have the resin wheels for my mig-21 and have some doubts about the nosewheel addition (not the wheel). It looks so thin and I'm afraid it can't support the weight of the kit... are you already come to this part?
Great work so far and I'm looking forward to your next post.

Well let's just say it's not going on the build! My inexperience with resin assigned it to the plastic scrappy! Don't think I would have used it anyway due to the same fears. All I did was sand off the Hubs off the kit parts and seems like it will hold the resin, probably have to peg it whilst the glue sets.

Doh!

Break from stencils as I try and correct my exhausting error! (See what I did there!)

They should only go up to the second pannel line and I have done them up to the third [frown]

Wish me luck!

Hm, looking at your thread on my IPad and the pictures are very big... actually to big so I can only see the upper left corner of them. Does anyone has the same issue?
