Hi all,

Returning to the hobby after more than thirty years. Much has changed and lots of new skills to learn and perfect. Watched too many how to videos and dreaming of kits to buy and build.

Time to dive in to what might turnout to be a deep pool with hidden under current but gotta try!

bit late to the party with this build, so lets see what happens.

The Eduard kit appealed for some reason, also purchased the Squadron canopy Barracuda Prop and cowling correction along with some Mark 1 decals.

can't quite decide which variant to do but looking like N°9 W2 W is favourite as I have not tried metal finishes yet.

That kit and the other AM you bought is really exciting! I just jumped into that "deep pool"
after over 40yrs. The hobby was alien to what I knew from the past. We will both do well--best wishes!!

All PE should have a homing beacon attached? LOL. In this hobby, progress is only measured by your ruler. We will wait while you work.

Very little progress. Had a right old time with the photo etch rudder pedals, only to find after spraying that one has disappeared. Not amused! Ah well, on with the detailing.

Kristal Klear not quite dry. All but one seat fixing broken off in box. Trying repair with 0.5mm rod

That one tatty pedal sticks out like a sore thumb. Do you think anyone will see it? [frown]

01 November - Had to get some five minute epoxy as Cyno and kicker won't stick the cockpit sides. lost remaining rudder pedal and seat brace has disintegrated despite my best efforts, so going to have to figure a way of fixing seat, bummer! [frown]

A man on the edge!!!! What a mare this little cockpit is turning into!
starboard side fits fine but will the port go on!? chopping bits off that will never been seen and gluing in small sections at a time with five minute epoxy. See what happens.

sanded quite a bit off the side walls but won't know how more to go until (and if) the cockpit is finally done.

wasn't sure at the start if I was running before I could walk. Now I know [crazy].

After much sanding of both Fuselage and Cockpit, have got the thing together. Still a bit of a squeeze though. Shame to see how little detail is visible! [frown]

Wings together with flaps closed. Clear light lenses have masking fluid on. Had to IPA off the red and orange as I had them the wrong way round.

Not much more to show. Wings and fuselage together at last, took a bit of squeezing and pulling for seams to match up.

First attempt at a vac formed canopy. going to use kit screen and second (hopefully) canopy as I managed to put some scratches on this one (not shown). Quite deep as they still show after dipping. Ho hum[frown]

Got the following week off, so with the deadline looming, between other jobs, i'm going to try and get as near to finishing as possible.

Still learning how to post stuff. Kept adding updates to the first post, Duh! Can't find how to post updates on a new page....Anyone?

In my haste to get the wings on, i forgot to spray the wheel wells before hand. Awkward job doing it later!

 photo DSC_0085_zps09e8335f.jpg

Made a start on the prop. Gave it a primer coat of Tamiya grey, the Vallejo white and left it over night. Masked with Jammy Dog tape to do the red and off came the white![frown]

Not such a bad thing as the line was a bit wonky with a few bleeds here and there.

Rocker covers on and Mr Surfacer 1000 around the seam to seal. When dry, will remove excess with cotton bud and Cellulose thinners.

Re-scribing the fuselage, another first for me, all nice easy straight lines though

Hi Neil,

That cockpit is looking fantastic and for those peddles well out of sight out of mind. You will never see them. Keep up the good work, looking great.

That first coat of primer is revealing isn't it!

Doesn't show well in photos but the seams need re sanding, filling in parts as well, more work to do around the engine cowling. Found more sink marks too..Boo Hoo.

You are hanging in and getting results regardless of the challenges. My build thread is a disaster manual all on its on! We just have to make it over the hump of the first build when coming back in action after a long absence.
As you update your progress, the site will automatically create the next page as in 1..2..3..---OR.....You might be referring to dividing your own images and text? Just click on "reply" and you will have a new "section" of the thread to work in.

Primed and pre-shaded (sort of), couldn't get on with Vallejo paint, kept clogging, switched to 50:50 Tamiya with much better control. Boy do I need to work on my airbrush technique. Also noticed that I'm coming across as a bit of a whinger. Yer man makes it look so easy [smile]. Hopefully the shading won't show through that much.
Nine days to go...Lummy [eek]
