Dave, you're making it look too easy lol. Kintoo is right, that is just purely the way it should have been done. So simple and the results are very pleasing. Excellent work, my friend. Keep this up.  [biggrin][biggrin]

Update time Ya'll!

Progress has been moving along smoothly. Except.........

I have given up on Hataka Paints. They are just too temperamental. Seems that they don't like extensive thinning. When I thinned to do a mist coat, They just plugged up the ab.  I switched back to Vallejo, Gunze and Tamiya Range. It's a shame though..... I have several sets of the Hataka's..... Oh Well....

On to the Build...

Primed with Stynlrez Black

Started the Mottling on the Belly with Hataka Duck Egg Blue.... This is where I gave up on the Hatakas. Control was non existent. Switched to Mr Color C314 Blue... Worked like a champ!

Masked and painted the wing tips with Vallejo ModelAir White Grey mixed with a brush full of Citadel Skull White. Was looking for an off white color...

Drew up the camo pattern with a mechanical pencil and started the mottling of the Dark Earth.... Used Mr Hobby H 72. thinned 70/30 with Mr Color leveling thinner.

Then thinned what was in the color cup 50/50 with some more leveling thinner, Turned down the air pressure to just enough to spray and lightly filled in the rest. Turned out well

Used the same mixing ratios and process with the Dark Green using Tamiya XF-81. Except after the mottling, I added a couple drops of Vallejo White Grey along with the 50 % leveling thinner. Didn't take pics of the procedure, but this is what she looks like unmasked. I'm quite happy with the results!

Next.... Stickers!

Thanks for looking!

Dave

Sorry to hear about the hataka paints! Since I can get hold of them fairly cheap I was hoping they should do a good job (seems that you saved me some money ☺).

You really achieved a nice shadowy look by using black as primer, have to test that myself sometime!

Thanks Daniel!

Yea that's why I bought the Hatakas in the 1st place. Seemed like good value and let's face it. I figured a new line of paint would be safe. But.... I was wrong! Lol

Another Update...

1st off... The Hataka's have officially been bin'ed! Just couldn't see having them taking up rack space knowing that...... Well.... They SUCK!

Anyway's.....

Glossed with Mr Color Clear, Applied decals and sealed with Mr Color flat.

The Eagle Strike decals are really showing their age. Back in the day, along with Aeromaster, they were the bee's Knee's! But with the coming of manufacturers that do strong and thin decals.... The Eagle Strike's are OK but a tad thick and temperamental. However, I'm really pleased with how she's lookin!

Thanks for lookin'

Dave

Looking great Dave. Your cockpit is brilliant. And interesting with the black primer too. That camo is spot on.
I'm not at all familiar with this plane but it looks great.
Shame about the paints too.

One last update for the night....

Used MIG PLW Blue Black on the underside. Turned out pretty well!

Then did a mix of Flory wash Sand and light to get a more of a Pacific Dust look. It did a good job toning down the camo, But I'm not sure I like the Panel Lines... May go back over them with the MIG Blue Black. But I'm Liking it so far

Worked the Prop. Brush Painted the cannon with Vallejo Metal Color Gunmetal Grey. Painted the blades Tamiya Rubber Black and the tips are a home brew mix of Tamiya. Coated the blades with Mr Color gloss then assembled the prop... Ready for blade stickers.

Worked the drop tank and chipped.... Don't know whats up with the cam, But those are aluminum chips...

Worked the exhausts... 1st a base of Vallejo Metal color Exhaust manifold

Then applied some Tamiya Rust weathering pastels..... Not sure I like the result but when I shoot the exhaust trails later.. It should blend in well

Almost done Folks!

Thanks for looking!

Dave
