Hi All,

I've just about got my Nakajima finished so can get going with this GB.

Its going to be the MIG 21 by Eduard and I plan to build it OOB.

I am also going to have a go at doing the box art scheme.

going to have to practice at free hand mottling [wink]

in the mean time here's the obligatory sprue shots!

got started and I have to say, this kit fits beautifully but my god there are some tiny parts to put together.

the radar screen thingy you can see below is actually made up of four separate parts!!!

there are some small bars that go in the front wheel bay but rather than mess around with smoothing out the burring and sprue gates I replaced them with some small styrene rod I had in my scratch building kit.

not done a dio yet,  I've got one planned for an operation Herrick theme whenever that comes around.

I might think about it if I've got any mojo left after the mottling i'll be doing on this one.

got another recruit for Emporor Ping's new army though! [biggrin]

this kit has the smallest parts I've ever seen in a kit. beautifully detailed though.

I know, just you wait till you do the ejector seat !! 30 parts or there abouts, for the PF version especially, PFM version is slightly different, anyhow....

as for dio's, anything would be a boost, a little bit of taxiway tarmac perhaps ?
besides it would be good practice for the "Herrick" dio [biggrin]

As for Emperor Ping and his carpet monster, greedy b'stard ! [biggrin]
so, what parts did he claim as his own then ?

There's a teeny tiny little corner piece in the main wheel bay that took off when I tried to tidy up the sprue gate.
ricocheted off my lamp and was never seen again.  I thought about scratch building a replacement but life is just not that long!

Guys at the local scale modelers club brought up the problem at a meeting once. One guy said that he had a plastic bag that he would put his kit and hands in while working on tiny parts. The only open spot was where he looked in to work. Said it saved him some critical tiny parts.

Carrier bag is a neat trick but I've got some clear perspex sheet,
I am tempted to make an "Acme Anti Ping Box" with the two hand
holes in the front and the appropriate bio hazard sticker on the side [biggrin]
