Here is my third entry into the GB..

With the spit done and the c-17 still not taking my fancy I decided to start on the PR.9

I have mentioned in other posts that this is a memorial build for my friend and ex colleague WO Photographer (retired) Mick Gladwin who unfortunately passed away in january 2017 of a massive stroke.

Mick was a great lover of the Canberra, he worked on them for a lot of his career as an RAF Photographer and after retirement spent many hours with the Canberra restoration team and heritage centre at RAF Wyton, he also found time to write a book! Warplanes no.9 about the Canberra.

Once complete this will be donated to the heritage centre at Wyton as a memorial for Mick.

So with this build I will be using eduard interior photo etch to replace the totally wrong cockpit, a resin Mb mk.3cs seat by quickboost and canopy masks by barracuda the rest will be out of the box with a few extra scratch built details.

I decided to go with the hemp colour as the box art using the decals supplied with the kit.

I'm really looking forward to this meaningful build.

As I was taking the pics for the start of the thread I couldn't help but put the cockpit together.

I started by adding the etch that wasn't pre painted. Once that was done I primed the interior and got a good coat of Tamiya Xf-69 NATO black, once dry I added some wiring and all the preprinted cockpit details and gave it a light weathering using necro compund by citadel.

I'm really happy with how the cockpit came out, it's far superior to the totally inaccurate kit supplied interior.

Tell me about it! Most of the seams on the main body are really good actually it the cockpit surrounding panel has steps and gaps and is a mess. Getting there though another night or two of sanding and I should be about ready to start sanding the wings lol

So finally diagonal sanding the cockpit panel, not had loads of time to work on it recently though, also added I metric f**k ton of weight to the front, 100g to be precise (hope the gear can handle it!)

Today I went about fixing the Inaccurate camera/bomb bay by chopping both up ready for fitting.

Still not sure what to do about the panel lines, you could get a nasty bout of trench foot in them!

Tempted to fill all bar the access hatches and keep it clean lined...

I also need to figure out the reenforcement panels aft of the wings, thinking of masking and layering a load of primer the give it a scale effect that works.

Cool cockpit! It's PE, or hand painted? I like English planes (Lighting, Canberra, V-bombers). They have a unique shape and feel.
