Thanks bud. It's eduard photo etch as the kit supplied cockpit has been completely dreamed up by airfix and isn't in any way correct.

Great work with the dedication, and the cockpit.
Never seen one of these built and in 1:48 too so a good size.
Watching with interest. [smile]

Thanks, it's been picked up and put down a few times now! Really hoping to get it down before the end of the GB

That is some great work to get everything done. Whew. If you are indicating that the panel lines are too deep, etc, maybe you could use a lighter color on them? Maybe I'm off base?

Yeah that was my thinking, I'm almost sure that a light grey-brown would suit the hemp colour as well as the grey bottom side and not be over powering the vast crevasses that airfix went for lol

Little update!

Spent some time today with a little more correction and fit issue resolving.

I forgot to get a photo so this is one from someone else's post, as you can see the bottom of the fin is incorrect, compared to the classic airframes Canberra and ref photos, luckily the plastic is nice and thick so a bit of work with a rounded file and some sponge sanding blocks and the profile looks a lot better, not perfect but I wouldn't dare taking it any further ( mine is pic 2)

With that sorted I got the front part of the camera bay installed and set about doing the rest, now airfix made this harder than it needed to be, there are no locator tabs anywhere and the bay is a tough fit, the front and rear fit perfectly but the centre bows in and the whole bay tends to drop into the fuselage, to fix this I needed to make some locator tabs for the front and rear using sheet styrene doubled up for some strength, with that sorted I cut various lengths of sprue until I got the perfect width and made a spar to get the fuselage and bay to align properly.

Once the cement has had time to cure fully I will go ahead and put the bay into place, then its onto sorting out the control panels, again quite a bit needed to be done here too.

This evening I went about filling the ribs on the rudder that don't exist one the airframe then I did a little painting of the exhausts and fitted them to the wings then fitted them to the main body.

It's big, like really big!

Big aeroplane hey, must have been almost as large as a Lancaster bomber ?

Agree with you there. Like having an ugly child, you can't help but love it!

Not far off a lanc, same length (ish) but the Canberra is around 10m shorter in the wingspan

yeah it does look to be square, ie. as long as it is wide.
although it does look like it has more wing area ...
never realised it was quite this big [smile]

Finally got to a point I'm happy!

Been months of filling, sanding, scribing, priming, sanding, filling, sanding, scribing and priming but I think I'm finally ready to get some paint down, that is after some sanding, filling and priming of the intakes!

I really hope to get her finished before the deadline but it's going to be tight!
