I'm following closely. The resin looks great...I hope it fits [wink]

For those who've been looking for this kit...Hasegawa is re-releasing it...supposed to be September last I heard.

I hope they improved the Kit a little. My Kit has Ejector pin marks in the wheel well. Also the Massive Airbrake on the Bottom Fuselage is just a faded Panel line.
I think about gettin the Resin Airbrake. The Cockpit is a little rudimentary. But hey its a great Kit.

Nice to see that you have picked my favorite carrier-based plane! I am really looking for this build your vision about diorama sounded great!

Here is my 1/72 Crusaders, 'flying' is Revell and 'all dirty' is Academy one

I have three Hasegawa 1/48 examples in stash, in addition to three Academy (1/72) and four Plaz (1/144).. perhaps this topic inspires me to build some of them.

I would really like to see you build one a them, Maybe in this GB, there is a lot of time.

The 2 birds look fantastic. I am not sure how much weathering i will do on mine yet. I will decide
later in the build, which reminds me i need to post some pics.

Pete,

It was great. I got an all areas pass from a friend who works on the Intrepid. I probably saw the whole ship 300yards long and seven stories high walking around for more then 3 hours. Amazing how many rooms and quarters.
Unfortunately not much planes. I took some pics which i will post in General Chat.

yeah I was a little late picking up on that post too.

I knew they had the sr-71 but had no idea about the shuttle.  Definitely a place I'd like to visit if I get the chance.

Don't suppose you got some good shots of the wheel wells of the sr71 btw?  Its going to be my next build[smile]

Looks like a winner of a kit. I like the idea of your diorama, I'm still thinking of my diorama set too. Good luck with the build mate~

Finally get to started. i found the time and the mojo.

Started of withe the Air intake. lots of filling and sanding to get it seemless.

I also had to tackle some ejector pin marks, of course in the worst place they can be, wheel well.

cockpit side walls, painted with vallejo light ghost grey, and black. washed with Mig neutral wash and drybrushed.

cockpit tub finished and weathered

Ip with Photoetch

I also tried to do some scratchbuilding in the wheelwells. the wires came from a 120v cable. The wires are very easy to bend, even severaltimes without braking and have a nice scale size.

Next i plan to Ab the wheelwells with a dark gray, and spray a a lot of thin white coats. maybe it give me some shadow effect. will see.
