OH boy....wow, here we go guys! I'm all in with this Corsair.
I bought it during a big sale at the hobby shop for $10US. It retailed there for $59.99 US. I was soooo happy till I got home and found out that I could have bought it online for the same low price.....bummer. then I realized: I did not have to pay shipping and I had the kit in my hands to examine before i bought it then and there. smiles returned.

This Kit is a total beauty. great great detail and molding. NICE cockpit and the engine is fantastic. gun bay detail, tail wheel mechanism, separate cowling pieces, Rockets and drop tanks....AND, you can fold the wings up with a great looking mechanism to show off. All the control surfaces are moveable or positionable. YAHOO!

I am going to go for a carrier deck diorama. I will show you what I have to work with so far.

The Photo-etched tools included in the kit are really nice, and there are a lot of them.

I will also be using some select pieces and parts from this accessory kit. maybe a couple of figures? I am looking at modifying the "tractor" in this kit to represent a "Clark Moto Tug" from WWII.

Hope to get really going first of next week. See everyone later!

Thanks guys! hope I can do it justice. Bob and Neil both did a pro bang up job on their builds--fantastic weathering finishes. looking very much like the photos of the real planes.

Hi Ted,

Great project, nice choices. Pics are great too mate.

The Hobby-Boss kit is indeed looking good. I can see more sub-assemblies comparing to the excellent Tamiya kit. A lot of painying process possibilities.

All the canvas section are looking nicely textured with the "oil can" effect.

Engine will give you a lot of fun. Any wiring planed ? [wink]

Nice details on the cowling !

Great to have you in the GB. Good luck Ted ! [smile]

Will follow with interest.

Sure is nice of all you guys to wish me well as I start this Corsair. Not sure exactly what all I will do with it. Still thinking about one more AM kit that has a moto tug and a group of pilots in conference. I need to do some more research, look at more static pics and WIP builds. I will definitely be reviewing Bob's video and Neils WIP thread [got to double check to see if you posted a build thread Neil--can't remember--I should--but I don't. Unfortunately I don't have a computer at the UNIT, but I can easily watch videos on my smart phone. Not used to a small screen at all. I'm sitting in front of a 21" monitor now. Thanks again!

Nice bird Ted. Seems like you have a fair idea of a diorama floating around.
I take it you are going to show off that wonderful engine.

Thanks Nigel! I DO have a definite Diorama in mind and of course it might change a bit here and there. I plan to do a piece of

1. carrier decking with the Corsair sitting with one wing folded up, one down.
2.  the "down" wing will have the MG bay open and some ammo in/some out?
3. I definitely want to open the nose a bit more and have a mechanic next to the fuselage working on  it. got to research the proper panels to open[the resin kit is a good placement to start with].
4.  a sailor will be on the down wing working on the MG and maybe preparing to load ammo?
5. I am using the flat trailer from the ground crew Kit. just a 4 wheel trailer with a towing tongue.
I have thought about modifying the tractor from the same kit to look more like the moto tugs that would have been on the WWII aircraft carrier. The lower part of the tugs and the tractor are very similar as are the fenders and wheels/motor/seating/etc.
6. I may see if I can use 2 of the figures from the ground crew kit as sailors in the diorama. Moto tug driver, man on one knee working near the ground? I would also like to have a mechanic working on the folding wing mechanism.

currently that is what I definitely have planned. there IS ONE MORE AM kit that would be great also.
