Hi All!

Been finished with this one for a few weeks now... Just waiting to finish my last build before I set up my Pic Taken setup.

  • Kit manufacture: Hobby Boss
  • Scale: 1/48
  • Type: F4U-5
  • Extras used: Eduard/Brassin Resin Wheels, CAM Deadly Corsairs Decal Sheet 48-109, Tamiya 1/48 P-47 Propeller, Hasegawa Bombs, Rockets, Fuel Tank and Fuselage Outer Store Hard Points. Scratch Built Centerline Bomb Rack.
  • Paints and colours used: Hataka, Gunze/Mr Color, Tamiya. Flory Wash
  • Other info: Build Thread is here http://genessis-models.websitetoolbox.com/post/148-hobby-boss-f4u5-corsair-7546027?trail=15

This was a bitter sweet build. All new tooled Corsair, Really a Nice kit. Great fit... Had some minor inaccuracies that really didn't bother me except 1. HB failed miserably when it came to the wings. They just re-used the molds from the -4's which had fabric covering. The -5's on up had all metal wings. That was just UN-acceptible to me. So.... Broke out the Mr Surfacer and filled away.

Other than that I really enjoyed the build.

On to the pics! Apologies for the quality of the pics... I just am not a photographer lol!

Thanks for looking.

Congrats on this beautiful finish Dave. Love the dark blue color very much and the weathering looks spot on. The drop tank is very cool ! On this side the pictures are looking great mate, no problem at all with your photography skills. A very good addition to this Corsair GB... ;-)

Unusual configuration with the bombs and drop tank. Fill me in on why you did it that way, please?

Other than that, you made a beautiful model! Love the tone and weathering of the paint. Spectacular!  [smile]
