Hi All! Decided to start a Mustang....

Will be OOB. Not yet sure if I will use the kit schemes. May do something from the PTO. Probably a bird that operated where my wife is from.... The Philippines.

Actually started this last week...... But we had a pop up Mission to the Philippines that I had to go on and just didn't get around to posting...... Just returned last night...

So here we go!

Box and Contents pics...

These pics takes me up to where I'm at as of now before I had to leave.....

Interior detail isn't to bad for this kit..... Not bad for a $10 kit..... Just quickly assembled and painted using Gunze Mr Color lacquers.... Light dry brushing with Mr Metal color Aluminum. I figured once it was buttoned up.... It will be difficult to see much anyway.......

Started Gluing the Fuselage together... Started in sections with the Lwr Mid section..... This is by far the worst fit of the fuselage and will require the most attention.

Then the Lwr Fwd section next.... So far so good......

And that's where I'm at now.....

Thanks for looking

Dave

I LOVE the P-51 Mustangs. Looks like a pretty well molded kit, especially for $10!--WOW.

Hi All, Been pluggin' away at this one....

I finally decided on markings..... Gonna be using Superscale 48-1176 decal sheet..... Doin' "Bad Angel" as it appeared in 1945 based in Leoag, Northern Luzon, Philippines.

Kinda an interesting story behind this aircraft. Excerpt below is from a review on Modeling Madness:

"Bad Angel" the aircraft of Louis Curdes.  This is a rather unique aircraft as the pilot is credited with 7 German, 1 Italian, 1 Japanese and 1 American kill. The latter is when he shot at a C-47 full of nurses trying to land at what was a Japanese held airstrip. The aircraft made a forced landing in the boonies with all being rescued. Curdes ended up marrying one of the nurses."

Pretty cool story I think......

Anyway on to the progress

Primary Assembly

Started working the prop

Well that's it for now

Thanks for looking

Dave

Hi All!!

Well she's got stickers! Think it turned out pretty nice! Only glitch was the decal with the pilot and crew chief names disappeared after soaking in the water..... Not sure what happened.... It may have slid off after it came out of the water or it disintegrated.... Not sure... But I do know it didn't slide off in the soak dish...... So I ordered another sheet.... So I'm on hold till that shows.....

Will continue when the new sheet arrives...

Thanks for looking!

Dave

Thanks Daniel!

Yea it's a real head scratch-er that one.... But it is what it is.....

Actually,I may do the second aircraft on the sheet at some point so at least I have stencils for it..... Sheet only has enough for 1!

Man, that really looks gorgeous. I tried doing the old Fujimi P-51 with Alcads. Had to scrap that one.
