Well, Been lookin at this kit in the stash for several years now and I finally have the gumption to start it....

Will be Mainly OOB build with selected parts from the Eduard Big Ed Set and some Royal Resin wheels...

On to the pics...

Pit done.. Pretty straight forward

Using BB's for ballast

Test fit of the fuselage isnt bad, But gonna install some mounting tabs to sort out the HI/Low spots on the joins....

That's it for now...

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Skids and Ted!

Small Update

Fuselage is all buttoned up.... The tabs worked great! Sorry forgot to take a pick with the tabs in place, but You can see a few on the last pic. It is the same as I did on the F-86 build that is in the cold war section....

Then finished off adding ballast to the fuselage.....

Thanks for looking!

Dave

Woo-hoo! Now this will be a build to follow. Seen this kit for sale a lot but never had the mojo to buy it. This could change things!!

Great start Dave, mind you with all those ball bearings the aircraft is looking like a cluster bomb.

Already subscribed [biggrin]

Thanks Sean!

Yea I have been intimidated by this thing for a while now, But now that I'm into it..... It's not that bad..... By no means is it a shake and bake kit. Has fit issues for sure, But I'm finding that test fit and trim / File as required.... It goes together pretty well.....

Hope to have some pics up in the next day or so...

Thanks!

Dave

Thanks Crossy!

Update time!

Well I wanted to get all the major seam work done before anything else. So assembled the wing Center Section and mated it to the fuselage as well as installing the Lower Fuselage plug.....

Here are the Bare Plastic pics after assembly and seam work.... Only filler used was extra thin super glue and very little was required. But again..... Test fitting and trimming of parts is a must but very worth the effort....

This Aft wing Seam was probably the worst. Had a nasty step.... Took my time blending this one...

Front Wing seam wasn't as bad as Ithought it would be.... Fared in nicely

Lower Wing/Fuselage seams really needed no attention at all, Just a swipe with a wad of 0000 steel wool

Next 4 are of the lower Fuselage Plug. This piece took the most trimming to fit. Also the aft seam contour was pretty funky, So I needed to install some sprue former's underneath to keep the shape. This also helped with the longitudinal seams that are so commonly noted as being a pain. The aft seam will still need a touch more work, But not near as bad as it was.

And the following are the seams after a bit of Stynalrez sprayed over them..... I'm really pleased with how everything looks! Just a couple of small seam lines to address on the fuselage and also like I said before, the aft fuselage plug seam...

Test fitting the Radar Mount.... Not great fit but manageable.

Also loose fit the Radar and did a weight and balance check..... I purposely chose a balance point a bit forward of the MLG Station which should be way forward of the CG. That should ensure CG is good. Looks great so far!

Well that's it for now....

Thanks for looking!

Dave

Certainly coming along nicely, I have always liked the Hawkeye but not sure I would have the space for it!
