Getting stuff in the mail is a double edged sword. Like Christmas but also can drive you insane! best wishes!

Sorry to hear that, must be annoying for you though !

one thing you could do is to start making a base / diorama for it [smile]

Hehe, indeed. The social aspect of a GB is at least half of the fun.

Hope they keep your promise and get you your kit on Monday. Again one on my wishlist, so also looking forward to see this evolve.

Wim.

Gutted that your kit has gone AWOL, but I'm happy to hear a new one is due to land on Monday. it's very pleasing to see that everyone is giving each other a lot of support though, you gotta love the camaraderie in these group builds

good news and bad news

the good news is I now have some parts [biggrin]

the bad news is I don't as yet have enough to make an aircraft out of. [frown]

what I do have is a resin .50 cal set from Aires which looks very nice:

DSC_0024.jpg

so the plan is to use this and some bits of styrene to create the ramp mounted gun assembly for the Osprey:

ramp mount

the M240 is the gun that has until very recently been the main armament on the Osprey but I couldn't find one of them to use here so the new .50 cal it is
[smile]

not much but at least it's a start.

Shame the kit is still inbound, but those guns are really nicely detailed mate.

Im waiting for a load of stuff to arrive in the post too, I've had a bit of a splurge on some bits and bobs for planned future builds. Im now wondering how much will go awol

I'm back from a couple of nights in the Lake district and have returned to a couple of boxes in my porch, so at last I can get going [biggrin].

DSC_0078.jpg

By way of a quick kit review;

all the sprues were in one bag with the clear parts in a separate bag, however this hasn't stopped a couple of scratches getting on the main canopy glass.  Nothing I can't polish out though.

DSC_0067.jpg

the other clear parts are a little thick and not especially clear so I'll probably be replacing them with some clear acetate.

DSC_0068.jpg

DSC_0069.jpg

my decal sheet has been updated since the one Phil did on his review video so the rotor tip decals are now corrected on the main sheet.

DSC_0070.jpg

the other parts are much as expected, not too much flash which is good but I expect to have to rescribe some areas of the model.
I will be looking closely at what reference photos I can get together and where the detail is raised, I will try and leave it as is but otherwise it'll be out with the scribing tool.

DSC_0076.jpg

DSC_0074.jpg

DSC_0073.jpg

DSC_0072.jpg

instructions seem clear enough but nothing to write home about.

it looks possible to pose the rotors in any position, but I'll prob glue them in the take off position.

he only downside to this is Ill need to cut the flaps away to position them correctly as oob they are in the horizontal flight position.

next update will be starting with the cockpit and dry-fitting in the fuselage to see what's visible and what's not.

starting with the cockpit,

I dryfitted the parts holding them together with bluetack so I could see what was visible and what wasn't.

DSC_0003.jpg

DSC_0006.jpg

turns out a lot of it is going to be visible with the large windows so I figured it was worth going all out.

the IP moulded is an early prototype version from the looks of it so removed most of the detail from the centre console and scratch built a new one from the reference photo:

DSC_0014.jpg

The pedals are the bit that I really struggled with.  The moulded ones looked like little blocks of cheese.  I ended up using some flattened lead wire with a little bit of styrene rod.
there's a little bit of kitchen foil in the centre to represent the leather covers over the pedal linkages.

DSC_0015.jpg

The seat belts were redone with flattened out lead wire and I added some throttle controls that were previously completely missing.  these were made from bits of styrene rod filed to shape.  I also used a little artistic licence and added a couple of fuse boxes and wires to the bulkhead to add some interest.

finally the roof console that was once again missing altogether.  I added a couple of coils of lead wire for the radio headset wires.
I was thinking about doing a couple of helmets but I figured they would normally live in the pilot's locker.

next I'll give it all a coat of black primer and then work on painting in the details.
