Starting up this thread even though I don't have any of the pictures yet. Will post some pictures after I get home from work. So far this is going to be an out of the box build. Tried to at least find some masks, because masking windows on a bomber seems tedious. But the few places I looked were sold out.

I'm also thinking of getting some decals for it. The revell decals seem old, some of the small decals are unreadable and it's starting to yellow (though I just bought the kit 2 months ago). There are some fun decal sets out there with some....... entertaining nose art.

This kit has raised panel lines, so I'm planning on rescribing the whole thing. Took a quick look at the panel lines, and they seem like they are pretty accurate. So I might be able to follow those as a guide. I won't start on this kit till I finish the f-22 I'm working on. Probably a few weeks away from finishing that up, so I'll have plenty of time to get any extra stuff I'm planning on getting. I'll put some pictures up in a few hours.

Well managed to wrap up what needed to be done in the morning early, so I was able to get some pictures taken.

Didn't take the clear parts out of the bags to protect them, but there is a lot of masking that I doubt I'm going to enjoy doing. lol

Kit decals. Leaning towards not using them, but haven't decided what I'm going to use instead yet. Also might have to wait till payday on friday before I can order them.

2 bags with 2 sprues each in them. Even in 1/48 this should be a decent sized bird once it's built.

Fuselage and wings.

Detail inside isn't too bad.

Detail doesn't look too bad. Shame it's all raised though.

and then the small bits.

Figures don't look half bad. Lot of flash to take off of them, but some decent detail. Might have to make this into a diorama.

Little closer look at the guns. No detail at all on the barrels. Guess I'll either have to go aftermarket to fix that, or carefully drill in the holes.

Little closer look at the IP. Detail doesn't look too bad.

I got a macro lens attachment for my phone so I thought I would test it out. Real close-up of the IP.

Close-up of some of the ammo belts.

and close-up of one of the guns.

Overall I think for the age of the kit the detail isn't half bad. Got quite a bit of flash to contend with in some areas, and a whole lot of rescribing to do. As long as I don't get impatient with it I should be able to get something that looks pretty good.

Thanks mike. I'm looking forward to getting started on this. It has to wait for the f-22 is done (or at least for me to get to a point where I'm waiting for a delivery before I can continue on it). Been looking at a few builds around the internet, and apparently the fit isn't terrible with this kit. With the glass nose it is difficult to get enough weight in it to keep it from being a tail sitter though. However one of the builds had an idea that I'm going to use. He put weight in the empty space between the engine and the wheel well in the nacelles as well as were he could in the nose. Apparently in recent re-releases of this kit revell has exaggerated the weighted tires a bit to help with it being a tail sitter as well. Will definitely be interesting working through some of the challenges this kit throws at me.

That is not the same kit for sale at the local Michael's over here. That kit you have looks like it's been updated. First, it's not molded in green plastic, but grey. Also looks like there are details that the kit did not used to have. But the panel lines are still raised, bummer. I may have to try my luck if I can scrounge up the money.  [smile]

It looks like this particular variant came out in 2011 while there were others in gray plastic in 2010. It's still using most of the molds from the old monogram kit from the 70's, but there have been some updates. The michaels website has this same kit on sale, so if your local one has an older one they must be having trouble getting rid of their old stock from over 5 years ago. lol. Hope you can scrounge up the money. Would be great for you to join in this group build.

The details really are nice Kenny, the figures look fantastic ! As you said, it's a shame about the raised lines, in some ways this is probably closer in look to the real thing (overlapping panels ?) but they are a pain to try and fix after they get sanded away fixing seams, the shape looks spot on though and it will be a lovely looking B-25 when it's done.
Don't write those decals off yet Kenny, I have had some where the carrier film looked like that, and they went down fine and it didn't show at all, the printed whites look nice and clean and everything looks bright and in registry, what you could try is taping them on a window for a day or so (I have recovered decals where the whites had yellowed this way) and see if it helps, but I'm pretty sure that if you do a test with them as they are, that carrier film won't be a problem

Yeah they have the older box art and pictures of the original build on the side panels. I'd go for the Dauntless if its still there, just because it was cheaper and I like that plane more. But that's probably a lot of scratch building... I don't know, maybe I can wedge myself in later.

Yes, a B25. Nice model kit. The crew figures have amazing detail. Raised panels ?, well maybe they were but either way a beautiful looking bomber. Shall be watching this one.

Good luck mate ( hey, no air-intakes).

Ditto, if we can help in any way, sing out.

Nice work Kenny. You're idea has the place jumping, well I am, hardly slept all night and the only thing that's changed in my life is the GB's started ..... ... sad but true. lol

Looking forward to you tackling those panel lines, if you need any advice, sing out, I think I'm in a position to actually give some finally. lol [smile]

Thanks guys. Pretty excited to get started on this. Might have to hide it out of sight for a bit so it doesn't effect my motivation on the f-22. Lol. Seems I'm not the only one excited about this group build. Should be a lot of fun building with everyone. And like Nigel said, no intakes [biggrin].
