For some reason I was thinking you might mount a saddle above the wing for a 1/20 figure or so
and call it a tooled up Mini Reaper for Tank Girl to ride around on like a sky bike [smile]

Did a search on Scalemates for Tank Girl figures, you could adapt one of them I reckon,
mind you there are quite a lot of figures in 1/20 that could be adapted I reckon, especially in the Ma.K scene [smile]

https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=Kits&q=Tank+Girl

Anyhow [smile]

Haha. Great minds think alike!

I had that thought and I'm on the hunt for a suitable figure.

I think GW may have some 28mm figured that are quite punk looking females that could possibly be adapted and not too far out of scale but not necessarily straddling the reaper

"Great minds think alike! "

....... and simple minds seldom differ ! haha [biggrin]

Yeah adding a figure is always a nice touch,
also seeing as it is fictional no reason why Tank Girl couldn't have a bespoke built mini Reaper to straddle [wink]
would up the originality of the build even more than it already is [smile]

Sorry if I over enthuse but I like the idea of Tank Girl straddling a Mini Reaper .... for some reason [biggrin]

Since the kit is not overwhelming it should give you more time for your "treatments". Good deal!

Think I have found my tank girl!

38mm metal figure. Sure she will be easy enough to modify. And approx the correct scale.

Now to decide on inflight or on the ground!

I haven't done an inflight yet but if I were to do it I have some ideas about what could make it a bit special.

Yeah in flight,
firing all the missiles at once more or less, staggered fashion with her standing on top like an over sized surf board haha [biggrin]

you know, larger than life ! [biggrin]

Figure looks just about perfect for this [smile]

So excusing the 5 year old style drawing (will map it all out properly when I get chance)

Here is my proposed plan for this build!

That is if (and it's a big if) I have the balls to try it out....

The plan is to

1: build a mushroom cloud using wire mesh and covering with fiver wadding then airbrush with oranges, reds, greys and blacks etc

2: create a base that it can sit on with a brass tube coming up through the cloud to hold the reaper.

3: add led lights up through the brass to the AC and up the outer side of the brass to illuminate the cloud and missile trails.

4: create a ring around the could that will hold the comic style kaboom!

5: mount the AC atop of the brass with a large missile trail covering the tube

6: mount the missiles on brass rod coming from the pylons also covered in finer to look like missile trails, these will protrude behind the wings

7: if I can find a motor that will fit possibly have he prop turning.

8: have tank girl stood on top of the reaper, using brass sheet as straps to hold her onto the reaper.

It's a massive task, a lot of new techniques and stuff to learn. I don't want to make it too tall either.

So that's ideally what I want to achieve but want to try and get the base correct before I even think about cutting a hole in the AC giving the option to do something a little easier if needed.

Also started on ideas of how the reaper will be painted but it's all still up in the air so to speak.

Ideas, thoughts, comments and criticism more than welcome, especially when it comes to wiring, lighting and motor.

Ok a couple of thoughts [biggrin]

First off, I love it, the idea, the ambition of it and the totally over the top nature, entirely fitting with Tank Girl ! [smile]

Getting wires up thin brass tubes is painful !

What I would suggest is have two of the missiles, one from each side of the wing, depicted as going into the mushroom cloud,
hide your wire supports to hold up the plane in the smoke trails leading up to the wing weapon mounts,
having two wires to hold up the plane makes wiring a lot easier as you can take a lead from each wire,
Ideally you would mount a brass tube on each wing weapon mount for the support wires to plug into
and solder the brass tube sockets onto the wires going into the plane to the motor & lights [smile]

One thing you do need to sort out fairly early on is the power supply, how many volts, how many amps, how many lights etc. [smile]
if you run it at 12 volts you can have one 12 volt bulb for the mushroom and sets of 3 volt LED's wired 4 in series to add up to 12 volts,
then wire the sets in parallel,
another set for the motor if its 6 volt could be wired up in series with 2 LED's,
nav lights maybe, they may flicker being wired up with a motor,

anyhow, love where this is going , don't f@qK it up !! haha [biggrin]

I did think about supporting from the pylons on each side I'm jut worried that the wings are rarther slim and possibly a little flimsy to hold the weight.

Another thought I had was to just install a single mains powered light fitting within the cloud and run an LED candle style bulb

use the inner weapon mounts, less leverage [smile]
and with it being in a dive position as well the angle helps load wise

plus you can always run a (carbon ?) rod though the wings to reinforce them
but it would make for a discrete mounting system.

Nice idea on the candle bulb [smile]
