Fantastic work, and a nice fix of the wavy panel lines.

Thanks. They wouldn't have been so skewed if I'd been more careful to begin with, but the fix is simple. It's much easier to rescribe plastic than it is to rescribe through putty. Its a trick I hope catches on for the benefit of the whole community. [smile]

You just have to make sure you let the glue cure completely before you try to rescribe or it can make a big mess of things. The new scribe will try to follow the old path because the plastic will still be soft. So make sure it's cured good and long first. 12 hours usually works for me to make sure I can get a new scribe to go as planned without trouble. Set it up in the afternoon or evening, and then you can safely proceed the next day.

MG fairings are cleaned up and finished.

I then started on the tail wheel. I made a couple of layers of 0.5 sheet styrene and then applied ample amounts of liquid green Squadron putty to make it conform similar to the canvas cover. We shall see if that worked the way I wanted it to after it gets some primer on it.

Still lots of putty to sand down. Unfortunately that means I'm going to lose a lot of rivet details, but its one or the other; Intact rivet details, or smooth joins. That's just the facts about this kit. You can't have both.

I think this has got to be my favorite build thread so far ! [smile]

Its been too long since I last had an update on this build. I was busy working on a tug boat for the last two and a half weeks solid. Good money in that, but very hard work.

Anyways, on to the progress, which honestly hasn't been much.

I sprayed the nose yellow and masked the tail for the Red, White, and Blue, but the red bled over the white and I'll have to do some touch ups by hand. It's a bit of a mess as you'll see in the pictures. The blue is off in tone to match the blue around the stars, but I'll fix that as well.

I blended the landing gear knuckles into the wings. These things are a terrible fit, as most of us know, and this was a little labor intensive. There is still a little work to sort out with these, but they're mostly complete.

Now that I'm off the boat I'll have a little more time to play with this build.

It got stepped on. Completely repairable, but [sigh] now I gone a few steps backwards.

Canopy is toast. Spine cracked. Tail wheel broke off.

I have to make a completely new canopy, but the rest of it is easy. Glad the wings didn't suffer. That would've been a total nightmare situation.

Crap.

I wish.
Cartoon Network put googly eyes on all of the shows today and that was awesome.

But no, this isn't a joke. I wouldn't joke about this. I suppose this gives me an opportunity to make the sliding canopy better. I've already got the spine glued back together and the tail wheel drilled for a pin. Those were the easy things to fix. Making a new canopy is going to take more than 10 minutes.

I'll post a picture tomorrow.

If it wasn't for that crack I'd just set about rebuilding it.

It's been a while, I know.

I finally had a day to myself where I could work on repairs and get back to a position when I can make forward progress again.

I cut up the one-piece canopy and rebuilt the rails with a better design based on actual pictures this time lol. It's sturdier and looks more like the real canopy.

I repainted the tail, correcting the shade of blue and touching up the white and red by hand. It looks a LOT better.

For the finisher in today's events I also added more sprue bits under the windscreen to make it easier to blend into the fuselage after putty. Oh, and I fixed the crack in the spine.

Not much more to do before I can put a last coat of primer on it and get a coat of O.D. over her.

It's all good from here. I think the hard parts are over lol.

Thanks for taking a peek! [smile]
