The fit of the parts is pretty aweful these days and it takes a lot of work to get this kit in shape. It is still arguably one of the best P-40B kits on the market in 1/48 due to its accurate shape profile, but the new Airfix offering puts it to shame. My build log doesn't completely show how challenging of a build it is because I've built this kit so many times I know where the problems are and just breezed over them without much comment. There is no doubt this was a challenging build. Lots of putty and sanding lol. Paul! [smile] That's one of my favorite shots too! I like the perspective angles. They make it almost look real. [smile]
Oh great thanks for the reply, yea I see one on scalemates for that time in the late 60's called The "China Doll" by Monogram - number PA96 at 1:48th. Hmm for back then, it was one that I probably even did at that time too. haha!! Altho, being in that time frame and my age, I probably used 2 testers paints for cockpit and if my dad had some spray cans in the garage, I am sure any color would have been put on for the final!! hehehe!

Now that I think of it, most of my planes barley saw any kind of painting at all and most only by a cheap brush. Then on the shelf they would go for a few weeks and then met there death outside in field by a flamethrower coming from space ship or some other alien machines, like a zippo lighter [eek]. Oh well, otherwise, your P-40 is an object of perfection (the cockpit..just awesome!!), Your pictures were just great and thank you so much for sharing it.

Lol. A friend of mine did step on it, yeah. That tanked my enthusiasm for almost a month before I got back on track with it.

I've got it safely tucked away in my little display case now. No more harm will come to it lol.

I've got a Monogram P-39 that will look excellent parked next to this one soon. [smile]
