Hi

Between the filling and sanding sessions I found some time to decide to start a second group build. After looking through my Spitfire kits I decided to build the one from Revell. The kit is a Hasegawa rebox. The kit comes with two decal options. One is a Spitfire Mk.XIc of the 43 Squadron the other is a Spitfire Mk.XVI of the 308 Squadron. I will build the Mk.XVI of the 308 Sqn. I will add the BigEd Set from Eduard to this build. Here are some pictures:

The kit itself looks very nice. Unfortunatly did not provide all the parts to build the needed e-wing. Mainly the gun covers are of the wrong type, but i think it is possible to convert the kit parts to get the correct covers.

Hello

After starting this build i had a stop here too (see my other build). Now i am underway again.

I started with the wings. Here i marked all details black that had to be removed:

After removing this details i started with the gun-covers. Here the parts as i cutted them of the sprue:

Each of the parts i cut into four parts and then i reassambled them. And here is the result:

After all the sanding both parts sit to deep in the wing. To correct this i added some Tamiya masking tape:

Both parts are now glued in place, picture will follow.

The cockpit also got some attention.

You are ambitious with your builds. The 2 1/72 spits and this one and considering a third kit? I thought I had a lot of time
on my hands, being retired, divorced--no children at home, etc. I wish you the best as you work on everything. Looking
forward to the rest of the builds and finishes that you do!

I do not have as much time to build as i would like to have. I have a full time job during the week. But i am a single with no kids and that gives me enough scope to organize my available time...

and now an update...

I have joined the wings and the fuselage and then i have puttied, sanded and rescribed the joints. The i have installed the masked canopy and other parts like the rudder and the those air intakes under the wings.

After that i primed the modell and did the pre-shading. It is the second time that i used pre-shading. the other one was on a test build of another Spitfire only some days ago[rolleyes]

Then i sprayed the underside with Tamiya XF-83.

Somehow i missed the area around the engine [eek]. I will tidy up that before i continue the spray work.

Until next time...

Enrico

Fantastic build so far Enrico. Looking forward to see next progress, especially that I have in plan build the same kit. Fantastic work on the conversion for gun covers. Keep up good work.
Cheers

Thanks to all.

It is a shame, that Revell dont has the correct guncovers, especially as Hasagawa has done them...

Ok a small update. Main paintjob is done. I used Tamiya XF-81 and XF-82 for the camo. I also tried some post-shading.  Here are the results:

Currently two coats of future are drying and next weekend i will put the decals on.

Decaling is done now and here are the results:

The decals provided by Revell are very good. They reacted very well to Micro Set and Sol. I had no problems with these decals.

And here two shots with my test build Spitfire:

Next step will be another coat of future and then i will try some weathering...

Ok the build is now finished.

After the decaling i did a wash and added some weathering. Then i added the small parts like the landing gear. After that i put on Vallejo matt varnish. As last i unmasked the canopy and opend it and i opend the door on the left side.

The final reveal you can find here.
