Don't thin too much though, I tried a 50-50 mix and it went on awfully.

I just use my 0.4mm set for it now and have no problems as long as my AB has a good clean beforehand.

it really is good stuff though

Hello Folks

After two weeks brake for the vacation I return to the modeling. Today I spray entire model using for the first time Badger Stynylrez gray primer. I have to say that this stuff is very nice. After some test I found that the best for this is my airbrush with 0,5 mm needle and pressure about 20-25 psi. The primer goes very smooth and it dries also very fast after 30 minutes I was able to sand some seam lines that shows trough and re prime this areas again. I also remove kit gun barrels by drilling them out and after that I installed some plastic tubes that left from my another build (P-47 Thunderbolt). I think they looks much better and now they are drilled. [smile]. In the same time when I priming Wildcat I also spray primer on all small bits such like wing drop tanks propeller undercarriage and wheels.
Some photos of my progress below:

Tomorrow I have plan to add some raised rivets from HGW riveting sets. This will be my first time when I will be using them, so stay tunned.
Cheers

Hello Again Folks

Next update on my Wildcat build. During the weekend I've manged to start painting phase.
First I've done pre-shading using XF-66 German Grey color.

Then I started painting underside for this I used based on Tamiya Instruction XF-19 sky grey and XF-2 White in 2:1 proportions. After that I bleached the underside color using XF-80 Royal Light Grey color.

And after couple of hours I start painting top side using Gunze C367 Blue Grey Color from US Navy Aircraft Set. The demarcation lines between two color are done free hand.

This top color was also bleached using base color with Off White color added.
I'm happy with the results [smile]. Now I'm working on all small bits painting propeller and wheels so Next weekend I should start put decals on this beast.
Till next time
Cheers

Really looking good! The detail in the panels/rivets is outstanding and you got the paint down perfect from what I see.

Hello Folks

Next update on my build. I finished gloss coating and I've put all the decals on it. I choose markings for VGF-29 aboard of USS Santee. Even though that I was used Tamiya decals they conform beautifully to the raised rivets and all panel lines. I only have to put couple layers of micro Sol on top of it to achieve the results I want to. I've all hand paint navigation lights and other bit and pieces. Here is how it looks like right now.

The undercarriage and wheels are added temporary they will be weathered separately.
Next weathering stage.
Cheers
