Looks fantastic mate, as a walk-by observer of your art I am not drawn to any mistakes you can obviously see.
Looks very accurate and proportional from here and that's the main thing I think. It looks "right".
Spectacular job Stephen. [smile]

Thanks

I am really enjoying this project, relearning old techniques (not sculpted a face from a person in 20 years)

I'm thinking of doing a few versions of these busts covering different time periods
And both military and civilian versions (still on Sherlock Holmes theme)

Done a bit more work on friend

This one ready to bake

Also got other head and shoulders mould started (only a 48 hr process to make the moulds)

[_645_zpsoi2jh09n]
[_646_zpsmyiko9rs]
[_647_zps5fqlcnyt]

Next step on this one is adding hair (the hair is very much part of this persons image and without it images is just not right) and a bit of cleaning up

Thanks for looking and comments

He really is starting to look alive. Nicely done Stephen! Doesn't it bother you how dead the eyes always look before you paint in the irises? Just dang creepy lol.

Today's update

Painted the face , hat and shoulders to near completion (just a bit of tweaking and fussing left to do)

hat band done with a mix of golds, grey brown and medium grey.
Eyes done with ivory then a mix of brown black and greys (black for pupils).

[_680_zpslk7eb8ob]
[_681_zpsql2qc0xj]
[_682_zps3ue8azkp]

And all the bits together (just need to find a suitable plinth)

[_686_zpsqfnzdji1]
[_683_zpsrz6sgq8y]
[_685_zpswuhls6pw]

Next up the final reveal pics (after I probably end up redoing everything i decide I don't like or isn't right)

Thanks for looking and comments

That is pretty dang impressive Stephen. He really looks almost alive. That gold banding on his hat really takes the cake. That is a super finish on that.  [smile]
