A little progress today.  The open area in gun port closed up and drilled out styrene rod added for cannons.   Lead weight was also added to the nose (probably much more weight than needed....)

Dry fitting is critical on these old kits.  I struggled with the dry fit of the two wings halves...  After a little investigating, I believe I found the problem.  Good thing I noticed this before gluing as the filling would have been brutal...

Looking good. You were lucky to find that problem before you glued it down.
That's where the mark one eyeball comes in handy.

Kudos to you Perry.

Finally an update....  I have been watching all the progress made by others in the carrier based aircraft build and they look great!

It has been a struggle to get to the bench because of the amount of travelling I do for work....  But I have made some progress....  I decided to order some decals specifically for the plane I am building from CanMilAir.  Fuselage and wings are together.  Still applying some putty and then I will need to do some rescribing.  I also cut the kit canopy and my vacuum canopy.  I am going to have the canopy in the open position.  I like the detail of the front part of the canopy more than the vacuum formed one...

Unfortunately, I have to fly away this evening so it will be another week before more progress can be made....

Starting to get there Perry, it still is a very interesting plane and I am really curious to see the end result.
