Hello Everyone, My entry into the diorama GB will be called "5' O'Clock High" and it will depict a P-51 Mustang attacking 2 FW-190's. I will attempt to make the base look like clouds and the planes will be mounted with clear acrylic rods. For the kits, I have a Tamiya 1/72 P-51D Mustang with Tuskegee Airman decals (which I plan to use) and an Eduard 1/72 Fw-190 A5 profi-pack edition which has enough parts for 2 planes and decals to depict 5 different planes. I have also ordered some aftermarket 1/72 pilots, American and German, to fit in the planes but I haven't received them yet. Here are the box and sprue photos.......20180703_212510 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_212807 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_212948 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213015 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213226_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213257_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213442 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213648 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213704 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213732 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180703_213718 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr I'm not sure when I will have time to start on this but hopefully sooner rather then later. Thanks,

Hi, I haven't had a chance to start these kits yet but I did get my pilots the other day. I had to order these through a LHS and they arrived last week, there aren't a lot of choices for 1/72 seated pilots. Here are the photos, the second shows how small these are.......20180713_140420 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180713_140633 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr Hopefully I'll find time to start on these kits in the next few days, stay tuned..... Thanks,

I got started on this build last night, the first few photos show the parts from the first 2-3 steps in the build all spread out, cleaned up and ready to glue. The Eduard kit has many more parts making up the cockpit area then the Tamiya kit does but at this scale and with the canopies closed, a lot of those details will never be seen. In a few of the photos I've started gluing the parts together and checking for fit, you might have noticed that I had to remove the pilots feet to make him fit in the cockpit of the P-51. Next up will be to paint all three cockpits and then join the fuselage halves together.20180716_210552 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180716_210610_Burst02 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180716_210634 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180716_210646_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180716_210705_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180716_210656 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr You also might have noticed that one of the FW-190 cockpits has blank side consoles and the other has raised details, that's because there is PE for one and not the other. Thanks,

Hi Everyone, Here are some progress photos for you, I haven't had much bench time lately but things are moving along. As you can see in the photos, all three planes are almost fully built and I've started painting the pilots (man are they ever small). Once I finish building the planes I will start planning and building the base. The main base will be wood and I'm planning to use clear acrylic rod to support the planes but I'll have to determine which size will work best. Here are the pics.......20180720_205723 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_205728_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_212134_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_212201 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_212216 by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_212209_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_214540_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr20180724_214528_HDR by Tim Ashton , on Flickr Thanks for looking.

Wow! great looking kits--hard to beat Eduard Profipaks . Yes it is hard to find seated pilots for exactly what you need [or I just don't know where to look?]. Nice work you have going on! Ive got to get busy

Thanks Ted, I looked all over the net for these pilots and didn't find much and anything I did find was overseas and would cost a lot in shipping to get it. Then I called my LHS and within 10 mins on the phone he found exactly what I needed and ordered it for me, picked them up a couple weeks later at a great price. I know it's easy and sometimes cheaper to shop online but there is no replacing a great LHS.

That is a good shop that can give you that support! My LHS closed a few weeks ago. Franchise of HobbyTown USA. only real hobby dedicated store in this area.
