On to the weathering, this is the first time I've tried pre-shading this way.  Not sure how it will turn out but I like it so far.  I was looking through my paints the other day and realized I didn't have the grey's needed for the FW-190's so had to order them, they should be here in a day or two so I can paint these 2.

Pics, top and bottom.....

Tonight, I might hit the P-51 with some Alclad II aluminum.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks Ted, and by the way I'm glad to see you back on here and working away.

Another update from last nights progress, the German grey paints I ordered still haven't arrived so I decided to tackle the P-51.  I don't use Alclad paints very often and haven't used them in years so I was a bit nervous when I started painting this plane.  Once I got started though, all my worrying was for nothing, besides the smell, this stuff is easy to apply and the finish is great.  As you can see in the pics, the main colour is aluminum and then I darkened some panels with magnesium.  After looking at it I thought the wing and rear fuselage panels were too dark so I misted aluminum over to lessen the effect.  Overall I'm very happy with the finish.

More progress on the P-51 last night, the paint is finished.  Added the olive drab anti glare panel and the distinctive red tail and nose for the Tuskegee Airmen.  I will let the paint cure for a day or two before getting on with the decals.  I also recieved the paints I was waiting for and managed to spray the lightest of the grey's on both FW-190.

First the Mustang......

And the FW-190's......

I'm starting to think I have a chance at finishing this GB afterall.

Thanks,

The FW-190's are now painted.  The photo below shows them just after I finished spraying the greys, I wasn't too happy the the variation in colour for the 2 top colours but I used the colours called out in the instructions.  Next will be clear coats and then decals.

All three planes are now completely painted and the FW-190's have been given a clear coat.  Next step will be to decal all three planes and then move on to weathering.

Here are some photos.....

I have a few stencil decals still to add then on to decalling the mustang.

Thanks,

Wow, wish I had seen this thread sooner!  Three kits on the go simultaneously, that's epic!  Great builds so far, really looking forward to the finished scene.
