And it's done ! Light is terrible today so the pics aren't the best, but I think I will have a long wait for a sunny day at the moment

Looks great. At least from the pictures it looks like you got the weathering on the black clothes spot on.

I think you did a great job on the black. It may just need a very few highlights ...maybe. Its hard to get it perfect and sometimes you just have to take it to your own limits. I still have infrequent success with black. There's only one shade of black lol.

Arnie is looking pretty good. [smile]

I'm seeing these pics on the much larger PC monitor and I have to redact my statement from yesterday Pete. You did a spectacular job of that black! The dirt, the wear, the subtle shading... Excellent.

Thanks Nigel !

As for the old mojo, it's still not happening, I put a half arsed update on my spitfire build yesterday in the hope that it would gee me up a bit, but my heart is not really in it at the moment.
I don't think it is the kit or the subject, I just don't feel like building, I didn't get anything done to it today, but I did get the wheel halves and all the horizontal stabilisers and flaps glued together yesterday.
I'm going to see if I can get the landing gear painted tomorrow, sometimes when the interest drops, just finishing a small part of a kit can help relight the flame

Thanks Mike, I spent quite a lot of time adding subtle highlights to the leather with black mixed with a tiny drop of white, I was really worried that it might come out as a chalky grey, but the planets were in perfect alignment with Scorpio and Pisces so luck was with me, and the tinfoil hat keeps me focused lol

Thanks Simon, I did enjoy painting this and was pleasantly Surprised with the result too, I struggled a bit working out how to get some life into the leather clothing, but I felt my way and it came out better than I thought, it's helped with my confidence for painting figures too, so i will definitely be having another bash again soon, getting some pointers from Nigel and Mike and seeing the different techniques they use on theirs really helped and gave me a boost to give this a go

When my family and I were at Disney World in Florida years ago we went to the Hard rock Cafe just outside the complex. they had a bunch of memorabilia everywhere of course. the most impressive? an actual full size model of the Alien "Queen" from the movies [like 10 feet high and 30 ft long] suspended from the ceiling and a full size "Terminator" statue of Arnold dressed and wounded EXACTLY like your figure. I can tell you that your figure is every bit an equal to the 1/1 scale statue they had on display!
