Now I have a message from my Phantom Pilot [well, from his 1/48 arm and hand]:

Thanks for adding all those references.
I am on holiday this week so have not been able to finish up my corsair. It's hard to hold off from starting my own F-4 after following everyones builds.

You are most welcome! I was just about to post a comment here and encourage anyone who can to give them a quick look. I picked several pages that have pictures and info on ALL kinds of Phantom schemes and variants, not just the F-4B. Hope they help some other modelers along the way. Also hope you enjoy the holiday.

Okay, I'm on a staycation. I've actually brought the Phantom with me. I'm going to remove a few sections of assembly where the parts are obvious and I don't need the numbers to assemble that section. Cockpit for one. I will label a zip lock bag and once I cut the parts away, trim, and sand, I can drop them in the bag. I guess I am thinking it will make getting going in the GB easier? Might be wrong? BTW, I will only be doing this when I can't sleep, which is at least a few hours each night.

We call that a "Busman's holiday" over here , do you use that expression in the US Ted ?

Ted, hope you are enjoying your hols. Notice we are doing the same kit.

Just to give you an early heads up concerning the decal sheet. There is a gap in the Coral decal, between the r and a.

USS COR AL SEA.

Annoyingly it means cutting the decal, and lining the two together.

Also watch out for piece G18 for supporting the intakes, I've put photos on my build.

I'll also be interested in what you think about the wheel wells fit on the wings.

Thanks everyone. My vacation is actually assisting my GF with a long list of projects and errands. Work work work. Been too tired to work on the Phantom. Thanks for all the great notes nigel. You're a saint. Never heard of a bus man's holiday pete, till now.

Okay, wile reading Nigel's WIP, I realized that I had not posted the required images for this group build. I had posted a lot of material including research and random images of the kit, but not the "official" pre-build images of the kit. I shot individual pictures then put them into montages. they are not good quality but do identify the kit sprues and contents. so here we go:

you guys tell me if this seems adequate?? sorry about the lousy quality.

Sorry Ted not adequate at all ! You need to remove every part from the sprue, paint it orange and post a separate pic for each part whilst hopping on one leg and barking at the moon !

You could always get your stunt double to do the jumping on one leg for you.
