Ah good Gerry, I had a good feeling you were a wrongun haha [biggrin]

Tim great picture and it does look good in yellow [smile]
always nice to hear what people remember about these experiences,
for me flight is the only magic that is really real [biggrin]
Have you got one of you sat in the cockpit ? [wink]
Btw nice build on your faded blue Harvard [thumb]

Gerry,
get ya picks out .....

I've seen that Lanc pairing a few times,
one time, sat on a hill overlooking an airshow a single Lanc rolled in a steep banked turn
to line up for show line centre 50 feet in front of us with the top facing us, close enough
to recognise the crew !
fantastic sound,
was a memorable highlight  [smile]

I reckon the MD500 would be my GB choice [smile]
Like Tim it was a special treat from a friend of the family,
but what a helicopter !
If I remember correctly this particular heli has a round the world record.
It was quick, 150 knots was effortless, it's true, these are sky Ferrari's

This is the closest I can find kit wise, would still need some reworking
including the unique windshield, I need a clear part polishing kit !! [biggrin]

Hughes500-Back Drop.jpg

A wee snippet of me flying it [smile]
Prior to flying this awesome chopper I've had 36 hours of training,
5 and half of which were solo,
so still a rooky but good enough to scare an instructor haha [smile]

listen to the sound of the engine though !
Somehow reminds me of the original 60's Batman theme tune [biggrin]

Gerry, you are correct.  It was the Lanc the flew over there in 2014 and I was at the museum the morning it left for the trip over.  There were about 2000 people there that morning to send it off.  It is always a treat to see it fly and on several occasions climb a ladder to the nose and make my way from the front of the plane all the way to the back.  Anytime you can sit in a plane like that is amazing.

Paul, thanks for the compliment on the faded blue plane but it's not a harvard, it's a dauntless but now that I look at it they are very similar.

I don't have a shot of me sitting in the plane but here are a couple of pictures I took while flying in it.

I think they are all at work, when I get chance to pop in and grab my heard drive I will have plenty of images, mainly working around aircraft but there are a couple of me onboard I think.

My profile pic is in the 84sqn griffin rescue helicopter in Cyprus.

I actually took a load of images of the BBMF lancs interior for the Haynes manual however they only accredited "an RAF Photographer from RAF Conningsby" not my name [frown]

Cool, I look forward to seeing 3 or 4 of your most memorable pictures, or more [smile]

Shame about the Haynes Manual, but such is life [smile]

I reckon someone on this forum is bound to have had a Grandad who flew Spitfires in the war [biggrin]
