That's a nightmare Ken, looks like a severe reaction occurred between the 2 paint types. acrylic does not necessarily mean water based, I believe it just means the pigment is acrylic, the suspension can be water based like vallejo, games workshop and I think the humbrol acrylic pots or solvent based like tamiya and Gunze, I'm sure I have read that the humbrol acrylic sprays are solvent based so it could be that that's eaten into the enamel undercoat, or maybe the propellant is the issue.
It's a nasty thing to have happen on a build either way, maybe contact Humbrol and see what they have to say, as you mentioned there is a possibility that the wrong paint has ended up in the can at the factory or even just a bad batch.
the texture that has been left does look rather like cast metal though, so I reckon it will look fine when it's repainted

OMG that is a great recovery from a nasty reaction.

Pete's right it does look like it has a cast iron texture to it now.

The fuel tank looks great Ken, is the mesh from a splash guard ? And that's a great save on the engine block too mate, the texture looks spot on like cast metal

Really looking forward to seeing more progress on this one

Wow, looking awesome after that paint episode. The block does have a nice texture now. It looks huge!
Looking forward to more progress, love the old Bentleys.

Hi all well here are the driver and admirers that will be going with this model.
They are from the Airfix London icon set, so I think very fitting.

Well I got some rivets, nuts and braided hoses today for detailing her also found an old base from the Christie steam fire engine which was too badly broken to be repaired and anyway I've stolen lots of bits off it for other dios, so thought since its cobbled stones it would be good as a base for the Bentley. I've filled sanded and primed the people for the base as well.
