Well I've finally purchased the Lightning and I'm ready for the build, really looking forward to this should be fun and a little nerve racking at the same time, usually only my wife and daughter get to see my models!
This will be only the second 1/48 scale model I've built (the other being Tamiyas excellent Focke Wolfe F190D), although I do plan to build Hasegawas 1/48 Mitsubishi Zero alongside this build.
Undecided on which scheme to go for at the moment, though my daughter likes the red one, so might go for that!
Plan to start the build on sunday and will keep you updated on my progress, or lack of. Anyway heres some photos as required.

Well I've finally managed to add the photo's and all it took was some good advice and a couple of glasses of red wine!! I've not started the build yet as I've decided to use some aftermarket pieces of resin and photo etch, photos of both to follow when they arrive. I've never used resin or PE before but in for a penny in for a pound. I'll be reviewing all Bobby's video's to pick up any tips that I can use to help with the use of all the aftermarket bits, its just a shame he didn't do a step by step video build

you will do fine with the aftermarket resin and PE. just keep the red wine close!!! I've only used a bit of resin onceNote: Dictionary for yanks-- "...Once involved, one must not stop at half-measures. For example, All right, I'll drive you all the way thereāin for a penny, in for a pound . This term originally meant that if one owes a penny one might as well owe a pound, and came into American use without changing the British monetary unit to dollar . [Late 1600s] ..."
