YAY!!! you kicked that greenhouse in the arse Nigel. I understand what you mean by the finish you want on these aircraft. artistic license is fine with this hobby IMHO. no need to drive yourself crazy---enough other problems floating around for that. congratulations again on the glass success!

Thanks Ted.

It's amazing how much I learn with each build. I always thought I knew everything there was to know, about this hobby, but I was wrong.
I'm not worried that I just missed the finish date, as I believe I've won a great prize in achieving more knowledge already.

Hope to get some better photos up later on, and find an area on my shelf to display this.

The defiant looks lovely Nigel and the canopy on the Do-17 is crispy crisp from planet crisp mate ! Really tidy and sharp lines you got there.

Finding new techniques is something that I really enjoy about this hobby, and being able to see how others have achieved a given result has really helped me to improve my skills (watching your figure painting threads have been invaluable to me)

Your airbrushing is superb too mate, beautiful smooth coats of paint are evident in the pics and the camo on the defiant in particular is amazing

Thanks Pete those are really kind words.

I've really got into using the AB now. I did the Dornier with a sharp cammo mask, but the Defiant I did freehand (following the general pattern used) but blended it in. I prefer that type of camouflage on the British fighters like the Spitfire, Hurricane etc...
What I did find strange is that there are no markings on the underside...and the under fuselage aerial, well I know it has to be there due to the gun turret, but it made building it quite difficult, so had to attach it last...then I used a Kicker to attach the thread...omg, the overspray from that ate through the varnish and decals. Luckly I was able to correct it.

Not going to do too much more to this model, just tidy up, touch of soot and oil streaks and done.

Have three other 1/72 fighter planes on the bench, a Typhoon, a Zero and the new Tomahawk. Nice easy Airfix new moulded builds.

Well, i have both models completed...it's just the base that comes with the kit that has let me down.

Hopefully should be ready for photography tomorrow.

Not too sure where to put the final pics, so going to open one up in the forum. If i can paste the link on the page I will.

To keep you updated, I've taken some snap shots to get an idea of composition for my final photos.
Hopefully i should have something set up tomorrow.

Here is a small preview....

Final pics will be more in focus.

Enjoy.

Thanks Fabian. I will also take pics of underside, which really shows off the weathering.

Don't like the base much, but as it came in the box I've had to use it, so I was limited in the posing of the models.

Yeah, the base is a little "over designed" but handy. About the underside: I completely forgot to take any pictures of Betty's belly...
