I thought  I'll throw this one together, for two reasons. 1: For something to do while I look through my stash for something better to properly build. 2: To get it out of the way.
If you wanted or needed a kit for an absolute beginner to start with, this is the kit.  Do not expect an interior, there isn't one, just a chair for the git to sit in.  I do not put the git in any of aeroplanes normally, there spoil them, and this one is not one of the exceptions; the git supplied has a modern crash hat on and a pair of nerd glasses on, and I don't think modern crash hat or nerd glasses were around in 1944!

Can't beat a good old Airfix for some back-to-basics kit building!  Enjoy yourself, mate.

Yes, I was wondering how the Swiss got hold of them?  I know how the Spanish got hold of all theirs.

I will not be doing the emasculated Swiss one, but the fully armed German one.

Done a bit on this build, not a lot of building work on this one to do.  So soon be in primer and paint.

[i-Ztc4rFS-XL]

As I said, "No interior."

[i-jpzFKdJ-XL]

[i-2qHfcHc-XL]

Here it is after sanding, seam filling, more sanding, and a bit of re-scribing.  Oh!  The wings are on glued on, but still in dry fit mode.

More a little later.

Great progress! Looks like a fun build, sometimes it's nice to relax with a more simple build between the more demanding ones.

Since the last time, I posted a progress report I have masked up the canopy and fitted it.

[i-KRTBTNC-XL]
[i-b4n7bHm-XL]
If you like your blades not just sharp but scary sharp, you need to get yourself a 3000 grit Ruby wet stone and give the edge a few licks with it, even new ones straight out of the packet.
[i-D3gg7Gp-XL]
Filled the odd bad spot or two, give the canopy a quick spray with the interior black colour, then sprayed the whole model with grey primer.
[i-dVGfN5V-XL]
[i-MKGpQR2-XL]
[i-RrvNKD6-XL]
Thought it was easier to mask off and respray the wheel wells then finding something to fill them with, (would have to respray them anyway, missed bits).

[i-jvmPNDG-XL]
[i-2msHfSw-XL]

Sprayed the underside of the nose and where the eyes are going to go with RML04.  Hit it 12 hours last with a bit of pledge, AKA Future. so I can mask it over later.

More later.

After a quick masking job, sprayed the underside and sides of the model with RLM 76. [i-7qzMmV8-XL]
[i-Q34T3Hr-XL]
A day later masked off along the two sides and the tall then sprayed the base coat colour of RLM75.  All nice and easy so far.
[i-7n8Tdh7-XL]
However, I cannot find any good reference photos to find out if the camo pattern is as shown in the colour call out or the earlier straight line camo.  Looking at the colour call outs on an Eduard kit for the same series of aircraft it is as is on the Aitfix's call out.  So, I'm calling it good, but damn awful to see and read.

More later.

24 hours on I came to the concussion the best way to do this softer splinter camo pattern was the use of this stuff.
[i-vpcMqXX-XL]
The none sticky, sticky stuff.  It will stick to its self like the proverbial to a blanket.  Not to the model if you are quick, and you have to be quick, the self levering quality of the stuff is legendary.
[i-9cCG7rN-XL]
Thanking that into account, this is going to be a case of not the before and after, but an after, and an after, after that!.
[i-3jspjVs-XL]
[i-CzTCswt-XL]
[i-rFttBnk-XL]
The difference in colours of the camo is so subtle it hurts the eyes.  It's not perfect but good enough. [i-jnrnf4q-XL]
All you do after is peel it off, drop it back into the tin and after a quick mix and its ready to use again.
[i-5rC9BQc-XL]

The next time you see this model will be apart from the canopy unmasked.

More later.
