I'm currently building the iconic Airfix Avro Lancaster in 1:72. Got the Big Ed kit for it and all (yeah, sucker for punishment. lol).
The thing is it was a birthday present from a mate and he got the BII version which is sans Merlins/inc Bristol Hercules radial engines.
The thing is is .... there's no "sprue E" in the box that includes the Hercules bits. But I have the Merlin nacelles and exhausts etc on "sprue F".
I have contacted Airfix (UK) and told them of my dilemma.
I'll let you know what happens as I'm on a remote Colonial outpost (Australia, obviously) I'm interested to see how quickly this can be resolved.
I'll keep you updated. [smile]

oh, the fickle finger of doom---a kit with incomplete parts.......DOH. I hope Airfix pulls through and takes care of the problem. I have never built an airfix kit but I built some AMT and ERTEL and Lindbergh Line as a teen. some of those kits were............bad. The signal I have seen on here is that Airfix has upped their game and is putting out better kits/new molds??

Yeah I haven't gone too far on the plastic side of this kit yet Ted as I got Eduards Big Ed set for it as well. So it's been pretty much PE with a bit of plastic. But it's performed ok so far. This little problem shouldn't hold anything up, hopefully, but I'll do a reveal of this one if it's worth showing. Lol and report then mate. [smile]

Yeah all sounds pretty routine their end so kudos when the sprue turns up. Yeah I haven't taken many photos of this yet Thomas, maybe I'll take a few of the build as I go and put them in the final reveal.
I'm getting a lot of headaches with this build though, i think it's eye strain with all this 1/72 PE. If anyone else has the same experience?

I wear a pair of reading glasses + a magnifier headpiece just to see regular stuff. Sometimes I turn my head too fast and it makes me dizzy/nauseated---motion sick from all the mag?

I have had a couple of problems Ted. One their fault, one mine, broke a part I think.

Great service 4 days. Free post for the missing part charged post for the broken bit. But that is fair enough.

On the Merlin Helicopter I built the windows and canopy had terrible what looked like cracks but they were faults in the plastic.
Moaned. In the end they sent 8 total replacements in one big packet. I think they were just "cheesed" off with my emails.

oh well..sounds like you became that squeaky wheel that gets the grease? Better an email than something worse in today's world.

I have not had a reason to use the but I have heard a lot of great things in regard to Airfix replacement parts, but I have had to call on Revell a few times and they have been bang on every time.

Good to hear that they have got back to you Simon, I wonder how long it will take to get the part to you down under ?

Back up to Ted, yeah I wore a magnifier for a while and that started the headaches, so I've done a few sessions without it and still get them. Maybe it's something that just happens when I do the small stuff now. Oh, umm a couple of sessions on the grog the night before had nothing to do with it, of course.[wink]

To Laurie, that's good news mate and all indications point to them fixing this with very little fuss so all good here so far.

And just a comment on Airfix's plastic! I love it! It's by far the easiest plastic I've worked for cleaning up seamlines etc. so whatever you're doing Airfix, don't change your plastic formula!!

I'm hoping it doesn't take as long as the boat trip my ancestors took Pete. Haha!
Ironic that a century later half of Britain wanted to emigrate voluntarily. Lol

So two weeks after notifying Airfix of my dilemma this turned up yesterday in the post.

Nice going Airfix. Big tick here. [smile]

Case closed.

Edit: Maybe I should've cropped that photo? lol
