G'day Pete,

I'm no aficionado on helicopters, but it looks great, particularly the pre-shading. Feel your pain re the gloss coat and decals. I use Mr Mark Setter and Mr Mark Softer. Although I only use Future as my clear coat I just never know which way it's going to go; white opaque blob around the decal or a nice clear and well laid down decal. Frustrates the buggery out of me.

Anywho, great build, loving the progress.

Cheers!

Sean

okay the decals are done, the matt coat is on and the masking back and all seems okay. now all the final details need doing which always takes me far longer than I think.

Great progress Pete, the problem you maybe having is the Humbrol clear is possibly an enamel varnish which does not sit well over acrylic paints, the issue then with decal solutions is that they are ammonia based and will react with any acrylic varnish that is not fully cured, the fix is simple though just apply a few more light coats of clear, and the white bloom should disappear, I normally use a hair dryer to set the varnish a little between coats.
Hope this helps a little, and I will watch with interest as I have this in the stash.
Good luck
Gary

Hi Gary. I think your right it was just a curing time issue. That's the problem when you only have space to build one model at the time and you lack patience. I must get round to finishing my "specialist" shed.

Anyway the basic airframe is finished, just a few touch-ups here and there. all I need now is the rotors and winch and she is done.

as the pics of it are all getting a bit samey the next time I'll post will be in the finished models section.

Pete, it certainly looks the goods. Very nice work indeed. The paint work looks immaculate. Well done! [thumb]

I know what you're saying re patience. Just primed and pre-shaded my Intruder, wanted to get on with things so had a crack straight away at painting the horizontal stabilisers with Tamiya flat white (thinned with lacquer thinners) and the white just did not go on nice at all. Just need to cool my heels and let everything settle down a bit before pushing on.

This is my workbench, which is huge, and I still manage to fill it with only one build at a time [confused]:

Looking forward to seeing the end product.

I'm trying to solve my workspace issue by converting a shed. the workbench wont be any longer that yours but it will be a dedicated space just for me so it should be ideal.
The plan is to be in by October.

looks like a nice "shed"--good luck with the conversion. a separate standalone location is Great!
