Evening guys. After finishing my mig-21 and draken (yes I know I need to get my reveal images done!) I was looking in the stash with all intention to build a mig-3, I was drawn once again to the mig-31 (which I have yet to be confident enough to start it!) I have bit the bullet and I am starting it. What can I say the box is big and packed with ikea proficiency with lovely white boxes housing all the delicate push moulded parts and those beautiful weapon stores. I didn't bother taking sprue shots as I'm sure you have all seen it before (I can take them if anyone hasn't seen them yet though!) Not 100% what aircraft I will build yet but strangely drawn to the Kazakhstan version, yekshemesh! So here we go, wis me luck! [IMG_0354] [IMG_0355]

First update! Got the office in primer and push fitted for your pleasure! This kit doesn't even need glue the fit is that good
[smile] Oh and that detail is to die for! Who needs resin [IMG_0352] [IMG_0353]

Update no2 Office now in base with most of the panels complete, need to do some more work on the IPs but nearly ready for some clear and weathering.

Update no 3 Got the office in the final stages now. Finished painting the details, first time hand painting IP and I'm pretty happy with how it has come out. #aintnoPEhere! Oh and the seat backs have been dry fitted

Great start Gerry, nice detailed painting.

Don't be tempted to glue those seat backs in place just yet !

I will switch on my PM if you need any questions answered. [thumb]

Sounds like a fantastic kit and you have made a great start with the office. very nice.

BTW, I personally have no problem with a shot of the box full of sprues and boxes. I see other people doing that here. I think that the whole idea of required pictures is to keep individuals from "cheating" and presenting an already built kit into competitions. I can see where someone might use a WIP thread from another posting [another web site] or from their own archives of images of a build to enter and win a GB competition. I just don't see scale modelers as "those" kind of people?

This is what the rules for the Russian GB state:
"Photos to be taken and posted on the forum in your own thread of the box itself, parts in the kit, aftermarket parts and decals, please post these photos in the Russian Group Build (build section)."

finally, I am not a moderator and have no say so as to whether or not an individual has followed all the rules of a GB. There are moderators and administrators for that job. Member who have any doubt can contact a mod and ask if they are not sure about any aspect of their GB presentation.

Bullying? I would rather call "a little push" lol
Glad to see an other great build coming together!

I appreciate the push lol

Thanks, it's a little daunting just because of the sheer size of the thing, it's the biggest build I have attempted

Another small update.

Got working on the intakes last night, been said 100 times before but the detail and fit of this kit is awesome!

Painted the meta parts alclad airframe aluminium over Vallejo grey primer (to give it a semi flat look) rear intakes in alclad dark aluminium and the front in mig ammo light compas grey (to match the airframe colour)

All dirtied with a deep drown plw by mig ammo.

Painting on the Sprue...don't see much of that nowadays.

Touchy subject with some modellers. ...but I'm not going to rock the boat!

Decided to go for it on this as all the gates are on connecting points and won't effect the final piece [smile] not normal for me TBH just thought it would be easier for these parts
