Yeah shes gone, no clue where it is. I even tried a UV because it had been dipped in a glear gloss with an anti UV coating which actually glows under UV light. No such luck. As for the black basing I have to wait until the weather warms back up because #CanadaProblems

Of all the parts to suffer the carpet monster--the CANOPY! I built an old old 1/72 P-38 a good while back and cracked the canopy. When I tried to vacuform a replqacement over the damaged canopy, I applied too much heat and.....destroyed it. I was able to order another one online. It surprised me. Best o luck.

Little bit of a hiatus but nonetheless work has proceeded to near completion on the Mk. 4 variant. Model has been primed in Black Badger Stynylrez.

[20170408_132201_zpso2atc2kf]

Then the various small, thin layers of the base coulors go down.

[20170408_143617_zpshvlv4dcr]

[20170408_150619_zpswgexi7op]

As you can see this gives a much better paint and coulor variation rather than pre shading and trying to cover the grey with a solid coulor. More tones were also added like browns, blues and dark greys to liven it up.

[20170408_150701_zps8a8ctpld]

[20170408_150713_zpsipz9inoa]

Next I started on the upper fuselage and because you are spraying so small and at such a low pressure with a thinned paint, there is no need for masking unless you really want a contrasting sharp edge.

[20170408_170956_zpsv6akxix9]
Here we can see how i slowly build up the paint layers to achieve the opacity I'm looking for. Left side is at where I want it and I'm slowly working over to the right side.

[20170408_174023_zpsj9lctogl]

Final coulors down and gloss applied for decaling.

[20170408_215217_zpscigdyzbu]

And finally some teasers whilst things finish up, As you are reading this the Mk.4 is complete and is about to take part in TORCAN 2017 Scale Modeling Competition. I will post final reveals after and start finishing up the Mk.5 which is essentially at decal stage right now. Enjoy the thaw.

Anyone else think Elmo sounds like Switcher? lol anyway, I'm reading the, very informative, jeans bulging thread here in Switchers voice for my own amusement.
Loving someone else swear and curse at 1/72 aftermarket. I thought the 1:48 resin seats in the Pig were tiny. They're positively tweeny compared to these.
I will follow with interest Elmo.
BTW your canopy probably landed next door. [thumb]

And I've just noticed page 2.
Yeah nice work on the paint, so no wash there? The panel lines come out naturally from the black basing?
Looks good. [comp][thumb]

Yeah the panel lines will show darker because he sprayed the top coat in light layers and built the up with the translucent effect. Since the base color was black it shows mostly in the panel lines.

Its a side effect of black basing and one I enjoy in my own painting. You just concentrate your top color in the middle of the panels and go light and slow. Then you finish it off with a overall misting to blend it together to your liking.

Exactly as M.Brindos has mentioned. However as you will see in the final reveal that the underside was done in a dark blue panel line wash.

AAAANNNNNDDD now onto news. Hey it's done! Head on over to the final reveal section to check it out but wait....there's a catch. Unfortunately the airbrush suffered a malfunction and the Mk.5 met the floor the other day and the two really hit it off! So much so the Mk.5 lost its wings and at this point surgery would be too drastic and time consuming to make the deadline for June 1st. So unforunately the plan of doing three Canucks was all for nought. However one did get completed and you can check her out in the final reveal section now.
