I'd file away the melted bit to look like the Snapped one as it's still a good basic shape.
Depends how accurate you want to be, as long as the model looks effective over all.
And with those decals and that shape it's going to look cool, even with the slightly "modified" guns [biggrin]

Anyhow, good job you didn't expect a snap together kit when you bought this [wink]

Perhaps I'm too hard handed with this. But when I bought this modes, some time ago (over fifteen?) I checked it and decided that I'm not ready to put this together.

I still think that this kit is not too easy, but I think I'll handle this quite normally, now I know those white metal parts are extremely fragile. I broke all but two of the guns, most with purpose after those two. One broke as I tried to clean and others were warped and I cut those off in purpose.

[008_Warp_shadow_killer_guns_repair-800]

As white metal is soft I drilled hole for metal rod and checked some material that could be suitable for those ends. I found some glass pearls, but I couldn't file those into better shape. Therefore I made new ones from styrene rod.

Thanks! I'll try to fix those to be as before. Otherwise always I look at my model there is some voice in my head saying: "Those guns are not looking as they should!"

Those guns are not perfect from the start (they are not the same in all dimensions) but those are good enough for me, I'm not going to rebuild those totally at this point. Perhaps it would be easier to totally scratch build them to obtain totally symmetric appearance.

Here is the original (with straight gun part), successfully cleaned and repaired gun.

Thanks for comments!

I received some really nice resin today, it is for my main project (?) and it shows how different resin casting can be..

Not too much progress with Whitestar.. All the rest white metal parts are now cleaned and filled:

[012_Warp_shadow_killer_rest_of_white_metal-800]

They were better than guns, but those had some miss alignment in the mold. And for most of them I just filed those until the step was gone but three had so huge step that I had to fill it with super glue. It worked quite fine, the only downside was that as super glue is transparent it is almost impossible to know when I have filed enough. For those supports for bridge I used normal Tamiya primer.

I know what you mean with super glue, sometimes I colour it in with felt tip pen just so I can see whats what better [smile]

Well it looks like you've got the awkward jobs done now,
what's left to do on the road to completion ?

Next back to work with resin parts. Here are all the white metal parts:

[013_Warp_shadow_killer_all_white_metal-800]

I added a metal rod to the guns that goes to the wings because they only have butt joint and it is from ... Those other things (it is very difficult to say the parts name as in these scifi things has parts that I don't know what they really are) have some small pegs. I make some metal rod to those later if pegs seem not to be enough.

I still have filling to do with resin and this ship needs a stand to be on as there is no landing gear etc. I have something in my mind for that. And a few decals after painting...
