What a complex looking ship, my hat goes off to the modeller who created the original prototype.
Great looking model, looking forward to seeing this progress.

Thanks for comments!

Yeah, the sculpture is really nice in this, but the casting is horrible. I would have had Stratosphere models Whitestar back then but it was at least four times more expensive (and it felt that this was not too cheap either). Although the resin casting would be top notch and it would have been bigger.. But now I must live with what I have:

Back to work with resin. The rear things which were quite thin broke. And to make sure that those wouldn't break more during painting I broke and filled all the air pockets in those. Easy way to find those was to look parts against bright light.

Here is the fixed side, three bubbles..

Painfully slow progress, but to show that I'm doing something for this build too:

[015_Warp_shadow_killer_laser_test-800]

As there is no landing gear etc. in this ship, I have to do some stand for this. So there must be some point from which this is attached  to the pedestal. Those decals are so nice that the only place seems to be this part where the main laser cannon is. I must sacrifice the foremost part to have strong enough tube inserted. Here you can see the scheme which I tried for this part, I'm not going to keep this..

[016_Warp_shadow_killer_laser_start-800]

First I tried to drill into direction of that cannon. It didn't work too nicely as the resin was too brittle and broke off. Do not worry, I have experience in repairing these! Next I decided to drill from above. Not a single air bubble here to help me.. I think this is far enough although the resin weights quite a lot. From this point the part curves and there is no ability to drill further.

How about making the stand with a cradle the big bird rests upon rather than drilling into it ? [smile]

not sure just a thought, wishing you luck with this awkward bit of the build [smile]

always good to have a back up plan just in case [wink]

But yeah, I'd want to drill it too if I could as it is more secure for sure
especially when your model is both heavy and fragile [wink]

Anyhow just finished watching season 1 and onto season 2
nice to see it again after all these years [smile]

I just started to watch B5, I still seem to remember most of those episodes, but it doesn't bother, I just consider jumping over some of them. I still haven't but maybe I will. It is nice to see some buildup for future seasons and frustrating as some doesn't

SPOILER alert

(but some doesn't matter as I don't like Talia too much, and Sinclair is good as Valen too ).

Anyhow, some small progress:

[017_Warp_shadow_killer_laser_glued-800]
Laser glued with epoxy glue and
[018_Warp_shadow_killer_laser_fixed-800]
Broken part repaired with some styrene.

The upper part of the ship has different curvature than in mechanical looking part where the laser is, so I had to add some putty there.
[019_Warp_shadow_killer_curvatur_correction-800]

This really old Italieri putty seemed still to be quite in working order. However I didn't remember how big the shrinkage is (I guess I have been building too good models, or at least I haven't used this putty for these kind of big areas..) Anyhow those cracks were repaired with some super glue.

Now after everything is about ok, I can finally go to part in which some progress can be seen.
[020_Warp_shadow_killer_parts_glued-800]

I had really difficult time to decide which gray  I should use, I even tried all my old Revell and Hubrol enamel paints. After quite amount of testing I decided that the Tamiya liquid surface primer, which was my primer in this build, as it does seem to have grip in this resin, was the best as all others seemed to be too yellow or too blue or wrong blue as I compared it to decals. The only problem is that the primer is mat and I need clear surface at least for decals. I tried to flood the surface with clear, but it didn't work, surface became satin at best. Next thing was to sand the surface smooth. After that sanding and glossing the surface was satisfactory.  By the way: the part where the laser cannon is was repainted with Tamiya metallic grey.
