ran out of Tamiya Extra Thin recently and there is none to be found in my area--- local hobby shop [HobbyTown USA] back ordered, Hobby Lobby--back ordered.

I was passing by the hobby shop yesterday and I stopped by to see if they had received any TETC. The employee---who has been working there for 9+ years said that the back order was due to "Chinese New Year" celebrations and that it happens each season! The shop gets back-ordered on anything from China and some other Asian suppliers. File under "things you did not know".......................I am surviving on some Testors semi thin cement and GEL CA glue. Its OK but...............need my Tamiya Extra Thin........whine, moan, groan, tantrum coming...LOL

I did wonder why the hobby shop does not stock up ahead of the holiday but its a $$$$ thing I guess? but---now they are losing $$$ anyway----oh well............

Yeah, I've become more conscious of this too, as more and more consumer items come from Asia. Lunar New Year is a huge deal over there, and it always takes a while for things to get back to normal.

Several summers ago, my girlfriend had a riding mower from "weed eater"....horrible machine. a tire went down [sidewall ripped open] and she had to wait a month for one to be sent stateside from china. she wound up getting rid of that failure and getting a new mower.

I checked your website---very nice!

I'm glad you enjoyed my blog Ted. Thanks!

Getting back into building models has been a much longer process than I initially imagined. A career change limits my time, and a new sport competes for my available funds. The blog is really an account of the steps I take, as I take them.

For those who may be interested, I've also started documenting my return to the hobby in video form. I invite you to check out my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXa9J1EI3Uqvu19quq5CkkQ

Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up. Since I wrote that message, the HobbytownUSA in Chattanooga got the TETC back in stock and I bought several bottles. Before that, I did find an online source for it and had ordered 2 bottles. Now I am "overstocked"........I felt like an idiot for not waiting a bit before going berserk but I calculate I now have about a 3+year supply! Thanks again!
