Well the results came in and my U-Boat Crewman got mentioned in despatches.
It was a great experience and I learnt so much by talking to the model makers.

The picture above, of the Lancers won Best of Show, and quite rightly too.

I spoke to Philip for quite a while and he gave me details of how he put the model together.
He pointed out that the Officer's grey horse is not actually touching the ground........! Amazing

All round a great two days.

Okay, so I was in the Art & Hobby shop to get some blades and some Indian Ink when I found this raw wooden box...

..so I got it for €1.00...put a good coat of shellac on it...

...now I wonder what I can use this for.....

...oh yes, a few more coats and I have my base for the bust...great purchase..

Ps. Can't close the lid yet due to the shellac.

But what would you keep in the box when its done? lol

That would be perfect for keeping old bomber photos in I think.

Strange you should ask that...it's only approx 3" square, and I have to reinforce the support rod and seal the lid.

One thing I love are Time Capsules. ..I always leave a note inside each model kit I do...although figures are a bit difficult to do that. So I have decided to use an old memory stick and load all the photographs I have taken of the painting, along with an electronic note, and will seal it in the base.
(You may have noticed I put my name and date on the figure already !)

I do actually sign all my figures....that's why I had to get a new 0.05 graphic pen.

I either sign it in graphic initials or Japanese, or Arabic...

نايجل واد

That just shows you how weird I can get.
If you look carefully at the Japenese signature you will see my smiley face (3rd symbol in from the left).

I don't sign my figures, but most of my work over the last 2 years has my name in it somewhere. I shape my initials into a shield with the year the model was completed in it. Its simple and unique.

That time capsule idea with a memory stick containing all of the pictures is an awesome idea! That's fantastic!  [biggrin][biggrin][biggrin][biggrin]
