Gotta love the Pete! he's an original devil himself. needs a tinfoil hat with horns!

I do hope to finish the Phantom build on time, although I don't think I can pull the Phantom and the DIORAMA I planned. Most of it depends on Mom's health and how much free time I have--pretty much the same for everyone in this hobby? free time + life?

FINALLY, back to Satan. First of all, thanks Kpnuts for the comment. Have not been on this thread in quite a while!

After getting UNIT 7 all ready to go today, I gave Satan a nice coat of Vallego Primer.

Next comes black, then the red, THEN it gets interesting. I will be on relatively new ground.

Thanks guys! it is GOOD to be back! I am actually working on three projects at once. Satan and two others--the Phantom F-4 from the group build, and a 1/72 P-38 I had in the stash.I have really really enjoyed the last few days as I worked on these projects in the new cave--UNIT 7.

AB Satan Flat black today--Tamiya XF-1.

NEXT IS THE RED! I will be on holiday until next Tuesday [its memorial day weekend here--honoring all of our past war vets and current solders.

Thanks Mike. I got back to UNIT 7 before lunch time today and spent about 3 hours at the bench. Satan got a coat of Tamiya Flat RED. Now the real work begins?

sorry that my photo lighting is not more consistent. the red is darker in person. Satan was glad to get on his "classic" color.

Nice work Ted. And great to see some output from "Unit 7 studios". It could be a conglomerate before the end of the decade! [wink]

Hehe....thanks for the thought Simon, but I am through with "business ventures". I had my 30 year career + massage therapy bus., hair salon owner, Elvis entertainment show for 2.5 years, semi pro wedding singer, wedding video, photography, small business design and printing. Just hope to be a descent scale model builder in a few years.

I gave Satan a few AB coats of PLEDGE today. Preparing him for a dark wash.

He had lots of time to dry while I worked on other projects. Just before leaving UNIT 7 I mixed up the "wash". I have no idea what I was thinking but I mixed ISO with Tamiya Black and slapped some on him. OMG WHAT A MESS! I did not realize what I had done until I tried to wipe some of the "wash" away. LOL........of course, the ISO had eaten into the PLEDGE. I will probably strip that fiasco off, re-coat the red, redo the pledge later, then use water and pastel and soap to do a real wash. I always said I will show the good, the bad, and the ugly of my work---well, here comes the ugly!!!

Question Ted. I know it's a bit of a way off, but do you know how you're going to finish this?
I prefer the gloss look over matte, or a semi-gloss? Have you thought that far yet?

Sorry to see that Ted. Stick to water based Acrlics or inks for washes. Pastels goood...ISO baaad.

Simon why not go for different varnishes for different parts of the model. Ted could do high gloss for the eyes, skin in satin, and matt for the horns. I'm even thinking of drybrushing different varnishes on a project I'm currently doing, not that the varnish will be dry on the brush more of a highlightbrushthingy. Feel free to check it out should have it finished today.
