There are a lot a aircraft out there which seem to have a thin white strip running around the inner frame on their canopies, the buccaneer being a perfect example. What is the best way of achieving this affect?

I think that white(yellow) strip is the detonation cord for the ejection system.

Most modellers paint this on the outside of the canopy as it seems to be mostly on the outside of aircraft

Some decal sets include this but you can cut your own strips from unused decals in your stash if you can find a decal with enough white on it to cut strips from such as flags or letter/numbers etc.

Alternatively you can mask the canopy as normal paint the base colours and then add more masking to leave the thin line which you can then paint.

Another way is to scratch out the line between the canopy and its frame and use a white wash to flow along the edge to create the thin white line.
If the canopy already has well defined edges between canopy and its frame you don't need to scratch the line out. If you use an acrylic wash and it goes a little untidy here and there you can tidy things up with a moist cocktail stick ( a neat trick for painting heavily framed canopies, paint over the edges and then tidy up afterwards)

Hope this helps [smile]
